Actually come to think about it I don't think $2000 will be enough for the whole setup. Maybe $1750 for the tower and $2500-$2750 for the setup.

It will just be temporary. I'm planning on eventually getting a 4K monitor or a 1440p monitor but for now I would just like an affordable gaming monitor. $700 is a bit to rich for me atm.

$200 isn't worth finding a IPS, the image quality will be worse than a TN.

My U2412M was only $300, a very decent 1200P monitor (particularly great for a non-professional like myself).

A Dell sale or something lol?

I just found one at Mwave for $319.00. Anyways I get it, I'll get a better monitor. Just could you please help me out and step over this monitor criticism.

good gaming monitor I recommend : http://www.amazon.com/VN247H-P-24-Inch-Screen-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00AVYNS7M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1386486148&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+VN247H

Yes, thank you, I would like something of the sort. I may actually consider getting that if I can't get a better one.

Yer as your friend has said there is a huge demand for bitcoins (I don't know what they are either), and AMD cards are supposedly good at running the algorithm to get them. That's all I know and I'm a little upset as well. Hopefully this doesn't continue when the third party R9 290 cards come out, I really want one.

Hi, I just wanted to get some help on choosing the parts that I will use in my new gaming PC. Just want to first of all know that I live in Australia and I have tried to piece together this build for the past two months. I have already chosen to use an R9 290 (I'm waiting till third party cooling) and an Intel Core i7 4770K. I have considered using the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO for my CPU cooler and possibly the MSI Z87-G45 for the motherboard (though something cheaper would be nice). For storage I’m sold on a WD Black 1TB and possibly a Samsung 840 EVO 120GB or a Corsair Force GT 120GB.

I’m trying to get a future-proof and aerated build as possible and I have considered a Phantom 820 though it is fairly huge. The cheapest DDR3 2x4GB RAM will do and the same with the optical drive. I do not know how many watts will do for the PSU but I do plan on adding more RAM, another R9 290 (hopefully a lot later on) and maybe another storage device all without changing PSU. Please keep in mind that I would prefer a modular PSU. If you see anything here that I am planning to buy and you disagree with it could you please give me an alternative that you recommend. If you can find a good IPS gaming monitor that is below $200 or even $150 than that would be great. Also what keyboard would you recommend.

I’m limited on a $1500 budget for my tower and $2000 for the whole setup. I hope to get as much reliability, future-proofing and performance (as much as possible for all). I’m just trying to get some help for my new build seeing as it is my first time and I’ve only ever had a laptop. I hope I’m not asking too much from you (I probably shouldn’t be asking at all) and if you do help I do appreciate it very, very much.

Cheers!

OK then...not knowing nearly as much as you guys, I was told at the time the computer would play ANY game. What is a good (but low priced, around $300) graphics card to upgrade to? And....will any graphics card work with any motherboard?

You could get an aftermarket R9 290, if you can stretch that far. I do wish they would be released already, though then again it is only the beginning of December.

I didn't want to go over 400-ish on my budget...decisions, decisions...

Same, seems I might have to stretch my budget a little further than expected.

@DIV1D3 all of the brands you've mentioned are good.

To be honest if I choose GPU i'd get the best for that range of price, getting a bad GPU just because it has a game with it is like buying the GPU solely for that game, you'll regret it later pass the years.

You might think otherwise but that's your choise =)

I'm not going to get a bad GPU, unless you think of the R9 290 as a bad GPU, it's just that I'm a fan of FPSs and if I can get a next-gen game with a really good GPU than I'll take it.

@PredatorRules said:

PS. About the RAM, if your mobo supports dual channel get 2x 4Gb, 16Gb is pointless unless you stream/video edit/music edit.

That's what I was thinking about but I just wasn't sure to which was smarter at this point in time. I just thought that 16GBs of RAM would be a good addition to a future-proof gaming PC. Also could anyone suggest a good mobo for a $2000 budget (well $1500 for the tower but $2000 for the whole setup), just need to get all of my components sorted.

Don't buy the 290 unless it has an aftermarket cooler. Thing runs way too hot with the stock fan.

Yeah I agree with this. Third party 290s should only be $420-430 and offer way way better cooling (models such as the direct 2, twin frozr, dual x, vapor x.....ect should easily allow overclocks of 1050-1100mhz).

You could buy an artic extreme cooler but its going to be more expensive (its like $75-85) and if im not mistaken, it voids your warranty from most manufacturers which is a big deal to most buyers.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. By third party 290s do you mean companies that resell it such as MSI, ASUS, Gigabyte, Sapphire etc, and which one would you choose? I'm not very experienced in these third party, aftermarket areas.

Also I've ran into another conundrum, I was thinking about getting 16GBs of RAM but now I see the sense in getting just 8GBs at the moment. I was just wondering if you think it would be better to get just one 8GB stick or 2x 4GB. I know about having 2x 4GB dual channel RAM is faster than just one 8GB though i would like to have some feedback from others.
