Correct me if im wrong, im quoting someone else who helped me with the build. 4870 is around 280 watts under full load in crysis. In crossfire it's more then 560, if the cpu is under load thats like another 100 watts and then theres the 3 hdd's to take into account too. Also 850 provides enough for further expansion.

Hello, i put together a build for my new pc =) What do u think is it alright?

Asus P5Q Deluxe Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB GDDR5 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI

Antec Twelve Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case

Corsair (TWIN2X2048-6400C4) 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2 6400 PC Memory

Kingston 1GB Kit (2x512MB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 - CL5 - Non-ecc

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500

CPU Cooler Master Hyper TX2 775/754/939/940/AM2

Zalman ZM850-HP 850W ATX 2.2

2x Samsung SpinPoint F1 750GB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM

Western Digital Raptor 74GB 10000RPM SATA 16MB Cache - OEM

I heard it's a good m/b, good reviews, few minor issues. I'll get a second 4870 and crossfire them later on. Running XP hence the 3GB ram. It won't matter if the manufactuer's are diffrent will it? There's a SATA-II version of the Raptor out there, boost the transfer rate from 1.5GB to 3GB. Do u think it would make a significant diffrence that i should opt to get that version instead? If there's anything i've missed out on or u got some advice for me plz mention! =)

@Churchill_Croc

Which outta your towers was best for space + air flow/fans? I might be getting a 9800 GX2 and i heard they need alot of room.

Yo fellow uk gamer =P

You might want to check amazon.co.uk, some parts might be a bit cheaper there. Though your websites u listed are gonna be useful since im also building a new pc. So thx for that =)

Hi all. Should I get 9800 GX2 or go crossfire with 2x HD4870? If i got a 9800 GX2 i might get a second one in the future when they drop in price some more. Been having trouble finding decent motherboards with nvida chipsets, prolly since i live in the uk. So it might be a bit easier go with ati seeing as some intel chip sets support crossfire aswell. So what do u lot think my best options are? Or has anyone got a better soloution?
