Given that people have given legitimate arguments to support their opinions, I'd say your the one who is in the wrong here. At least give a reason why they're "the same" before labeling a specific group of people as "fanboys" that have a better supported argument than you.

What legitimate reason has there been that they're different? Because I've missed it.

1. Not all PS3 games have trophies. 2. Achievements are more detailed with their points, for better or worse. Maybe some people think the superfluous high numbers are unnecesarry and they prefer the more streamlined trophies, which are separated into four categories. 3. Platinum trophies indicate how many games a user has completed 100 percent. 4. Trophies aren't jumbled together like Achievements, so you can see just how many of the harder challenges were completed because of the bronze, silver, and gold rankings. They aren't monumental differences, but they enough to justify a preference. You are just quick to label someone as a "fanboy" because of your massive superiority complex. Go ahead and argue that these "things are pointless," but then you'll just come off as ignorant.

[QUOTE="ianuilliam"]

[QUOTE="The_Capitalist"]

A few days ago, I paid a visit to Best Buy (I wasn't planning on buying anything) and I walked over the PS3 display. They had a demo unit running, so I picked up a controller and played the Uncharted 2 demo.

The demo loaded up, and despite how awkward using the controller was to control the main character, I managed to get through the part where the main character avoids a truck pummeling at him down a narrow alleyway.

The next part of a demo featured a gun battle. I pressed R1 (or R2?) to enter into the aiming mode. The lack of precision from a controller astounded me! No matter how hard I tried, it was difficult to get a bead on the enemy. The enemies kept moving around and tossing grenades at me, so I eventually ran out of ammo and died.

Question is: Coming from a PC gamer who is more used to the keyboard and mouse way of aiming, how do you guys ever manage to aim?

I am not disaparging the controller in any way... Controllers certainly have their place in certain game genres, but you have to agree, aiming feels very awkward on a controller. I hope the next generation of motion controllers rectify this problem before I get my hands on a PS3 next year.

This just in: PC gamer admits console gaming requires more skill.

Archaic and imprecise controls are not a good way to make a game "difficult." Yes, it is difficult, but it is also unreasonably so. I could give you the most difficult control scheme where you have to alternate two different buttons to run and have to be extremely precise with the analog stick in order to jump accordingly. Those are terrible ways to control a game, but hey, it makes it more difficult, right? Not that I agree with the topic creator. Uncharted 2 is my favorite shooter ever and is the second best game of 2009. Demon's Souls takes the top spot, not only for 2009, but for all time. I was happy to see GameSpot pick it as their Game of the Year winner. What a good choice!

You said the games you listed look better than 99 percent of Wii games... which means that there is still 1 percent of Wii games that look better than the best looking XBox games. So I'm kind of confused at what you're getting at.

It was understandable in the sense that Super Mario 64 was meant to show off the capabilities of the Nintendo 64. Traversing a world in 3D was a new concept completely, and it would be fully fleshed out in later Rare platformers. It was great to not have boundaries, and the varied landscapes really kept the game interesting throughout. Super Mario Sunshine was a great game, but it is definitely not the amazing follow-up I was expecting. Water levels have always been my least favorite, and they have been killed off in most games completely, but Nintendo went ahead and had it as the central focus. It was okay, given that we still went to some varied locales, like a harbor and a hotel. However, the worst part is... the places just weren't interesting. The great sense of wonderment that Super Mario 64 was killed off, and I really felt that there wasn't a whole lot of imagination to it. Super Mario Galaxy is a different game all together. It is linear, just like the 2D games, and has you overcoming obstacles in the immediate area. The gravity, while never fully realized or fleshed out, is still put to good use in a wide array of ways. It traded off the exploration, but the actual missions felt like a blast from the past, especially with some of the 2D Mario references, including the costumes. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is looking to one-up what the original set out to do in every conceiveable way. I'm looking forward to Super Mario Bros. 3 difficulty. The Japanese version of Super Mario Bros. 2 is too hard and New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Super Mario World are far too easy. Number 3 is perfect. Just post some of your expectations, speculations, and talk about the evolution of the 3D Mario series. I'm interested to hear your thoughts on the subject matter.

They actually do have some slight differences, so I don't know why everyone keeps saying they are the same thing.
