Second Impressions of San Andreas
by Darth_Homer on Comments
Well, I've played a lot more of San Andreas...so heres my opinion...
First off...the game is still brilliant...the missions are actually well-designed, and are interesting, not just waste of time missions...and best of all, HARDLY ANY PROTECT MISSIONS!!! (Can't stand them....). Working out at the Gym is fun...especially seeing as it's a series of button pressing, which I'm actually pretty good at (which is why I own my brothers at WWE Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain)
The sound is good as well. Some great voice acting, right on par with that of MGS (which is the best voice-acting in any game...period). The music...well, is just ok. While it's good to have Guns and Roses and 2Pac, there could've been some songs that Rockstar could've put in (like any Nirvana song...THAT IS THE MUSIC OF THE EARLIER 90'S!)
In short, this is another brilliant game to get....expect either a GameFAQs or a Gamespot review soon...
A Tribute to Sega...

Heres the weirdest thing, I own a PS2, yet I've been getting feelings that I want to get back into playing Sega games. Heres the thing, I was raised on a SNES (the best console ever), and when I was younger, I couldn't care less about the Genesis/Mega Drive. But now, I come to realisations that although Nintendo were more popular, Sega were more innovative developers, creating different games.
They were great console developers, creating some brilliant games, but I feel they had more success in the arcades. This is coming from a company who made Daytona USA, Virtua Cop, Virtua Fighter, Outrun, Virtual On and many other games. I wonder why that is?
More recently though, I've been trying my hand at playing some of the old Sonic games, and the reasons why they are great games are numerous. Theres nothing like running at fast speeds, jumping over every enemy, going over loops...gaming brilliance...
And the beat goes on...

First Impressions of San Andreas...
by Darth_Homer on Comments
Well, if you've read my previous journals, you'll know that I recently got the latest Rockstar epic GTA: San Andreas...and heres my first impressions of it...
It's certainly more urban than the previous games...and I mean gang-type urban...Also, it's the first game that I own which drops f-bombs repeatedly (not just in the dialogue, in the songs as well). Speaking of the audio, it sounds great...acted really well...and the soundtrack, which I feared because I've got a intense dis-like of Rap...is actually quite good...
Now for the game itself. The first vehicle you come across is a Bike, and it's controlled well...unlike other vehicles with wheels...you keep pressing the X button to go faster, much like a real bike. Also, while I feared that the fact that you have to keep looking after you character...it's actually not that much of a problem...well...I gotta play more to give a more accurate opinion...
Expect a review once I play more....Peace out y'all....
Fission Mailed!

I don't think I've ever played a game quite liked Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. Firstly, it's one of the best made video games that I've ever played, theres not a question about it, but the ideas presented in the game....well...thats a completely different story.
It's a well known fact that most Japanese video games have weird stuff in them, but trust me, putting forward the idea that a group of men control the distribution of news, and pretty much babysit the world is kinda scary, and not just BOO type scary, we're talkin sh**ing yourselves scary. MGS2 towards the end is freaky....REALLY freaky...and thats just the beginning...
At one point in the game, your character is completely naked, trying to avoid guards, and I mean COMPLETELY naked, not just weapon-wise. Calling people to help you isn't the best idea, because your CO loses it, and starts blurting out the craziest things, including famous phrases from the past. I'm not going to spoil why that is....but remember, this is coming from a game, that during a fight scene where you need the whole screen, goes to a fake Game Over screen, WHILE YOU ARE STILL PLAYING! (where is where I got Fission Mailed)
While I'm not going to spoil the rest of the story...let me just say this...MGS2: Brilliant but Freaky....

Games that made me a Gamer: ACT 2-The 32-Bit Era- Chapter 2

No more delays, lets get this show on the road!
*Daytona USA: I'm beginning this entry with the greatest arcade racer of all time. Many of you may complain that thats a pretty bold claim, but tell me, how many arcade games do you see that are 10 years or older, that are still in the arcade, and people still play them? I rest my case, but I'm not done. This is one of those games that can stil put a adrealine rush inside of you, no matter how many times you've raced on a certain track. And Daytona is also a game that can't be beaten when you refer to multi-player racing, as up to 8 people, racing simultaneously, all frantically trying to beat one another, is a expierence that you can't beat. Also, suprisingly, this is one of the few racers that I never crash in, seriously, I tend to do a lot of crashing in other racing games, but I don't even try to lay a finger on the other racers. This is probably my favourite Sega arcade title, and my second favourite Sega title...thank you!
*Gran Turismo: The Real Life Driving Simulator, and one of the most ingeniously designed racing games of all time. It brought about a new change in the way racing games are made, and made them either more challenging or made it just right. Needless to say, anyone raised on arcadey racing games would either have to relearn to drive or give up. In total to the games title, it also contained a good amount of cars and real car manufactures including Subaru, Toyota, Honda, Aston Martin and so on. The game also included a mode where you would buy cars by doing racing, and by doing this, you could go to a friends house, and using yours and his memory cards, take each other on. In short, the game that brought about the coming of real-life racing games, and one of the most ingenious racers ever made.
*Marvel Vs Capcom: The game that reinvented my love of Capcom. After Resident Evil, I lost my faith in Capcom, till I played one of the most frantic, 2vs2 fighters ever to be released. The game had a great character selection, including obvious characters such as Ryu, Spiderman and so on, but had not so obvious characters such as Megaman and Venom. This is also one of the more accessible Capcom fighters, as you don't need to know how to pull off a Hadoken in order to beat the sh*t out of your opponent, thanks to a Easy mode. With this, you could execute characters moves much more easily, and perform Hyper Combos (a characters most devasting attack) much more easily, making fights a short but fun blast. Another great game from the masters of 2D fighting games.
*Street Fighter Alpha 3: Another great entry in the SF series. Unlike Marvel Vs Capcom, this game relied more on skill, so you needed to know a few of a characters special moves in order to get at least one victory under your belt. The game had a good amount of characters, and in SF tradition, added more characters with new versions of the game (in one version, every single character who was in SF2 is in the game, including the infamous Akuma). While the game had a great run in the arcades, it also become one of the best 2D fighters on the Playstation, as Capcom included modes that were secret in the arcades. These included Dynamic Battle (where you fought fighters, 2 on 1), Final Battle (where you would fight the final boss to get the ending quicker) and Survival (where you fought lots of opponents). One mode that wasn't in the arcade was World Tour mode, where you travelled across the world, levelling up, gaining unlockables and fighting in all sorts of crazy challenges. In short, another great game from the masters...
