I'm not saying he's right..but you can bet your arse that the internet is desensitizing people.....Omni-SlashYeah, but people are still stupid if they don't react to the sound of a gunshot.
O' Reilly is doing a segment on how people are ignoring obvious violence, such as a clerk being shot and killed and people continuing to shop. He blames this on the internet somewhat into the video stating:
"I think it's getting worse because of the internet, as we just saw the YouTube video, because life is now becoming like a video game to these people. They see horrendous violence, all right, right in their [screen], then they see it in real life, and it's not as real or shocking as it was." -Bill O' Reilly
"...Think about the internet deal here, because life is becoming like a video game for a lot of people."
NOTE: About halfway through video they start to talk about women's groups. You can ignore that.
You will need to look for the video. To do this, go to the bottom, click on shows in the left column, click on the O' Reilly Factor. Click on the video with the title "Cultural Collapse?".
To be honest, I think O' Reilly would have had more of an argument with going after video games (which he did slightly, but he aimed more at the internet in general), because they have the interactive factor. Going on YouTube wouldn't be any different than watching a movie, and movies have been around for quite a while now. We would see people becoming less reactive to violence a long time ago if YouTube is a problem.
Opinions?
Philly Flyers fans. Here is your average discussion with them (as a Devils fan, which is a rival of the Flyers).
Flyers fan:Devils suck.
Me: The Devils have won more championships than the Flyers, with less time as a team.

Me: The Devils are winning their division.

You can see where it goes from there. Or, as an example from last season, when the Flyers won their only game against the Devils last season (1-6-1 or so against them) the Flyers fans thought the Flyers were miles better than the Devils. Their logic? That the last game is the most important. Now, unless I misunderstand the rules, a win is always worth two points. This means that if the Flyers won the third, first, even fifth game against the Devils, it would have the same impact as this one. The only difference is that the impact of this game was more easily seen. The Flyers went on to win in the first round due to horrible reffing, and a ****storm began.
I'm probably just biased, although most Philly fans I've seen are pretty much front-runners or stupid.
[QUOTE="Maddy_K"]Whoa, whoa, hold on. Marriage rituals did NOT originate solely in Judaism or Christianity. A base of your argument is flawed.Cokelore
Here we go......even not solely or originate. Marriage is still seen as a traditional significant event in the bible, the ultimate form for couple blah blah. I really don't feel like getting a history lesson right now, I was looking for some reasoning
Marriage is seen as a significant event everywhere...
