My Top Ten Albums (Including Reviews)

1. Blood Sugar Sex Magik

Image:RedHotChiliPeppersBloodSugarSexMagik.jpg

Reason For Picking:  This album is the definition of "a masterpiece."  From the beautiful lyrical work of "Under the Bridge", "I Could Have Lied", "My Lovely Man" (dedicated to Hillel Slovak), and "Breaking the Girl"; to the sexual vibes of "Blood Sugar Sex Magik", "Sir Psycho Sexy", and "Suck My Kiss"; to straight up funk in "Give it Away", "Funky Monks, "The Power of Equality", "If you Have To Ask", "Mellowship Slinky in B Major", and "The Righteous and the Wicked"; this album dominates the worlds of rock and funk.

Top 5 songs: "I Could Have Lied", "Blood Sugar Sex Magik", "Under the Bridge", "My Lovely Man", "Give it Away"

2. Stadium Arcadium

 Image:Stadiumarcadium.jpg

Reason For Picking: You know, I hate to put my top two albums by my single favorite band, but how often does an album THIS GOOD come out?!?  Come on!!!  The beauty of songs like Snow (Hey Oh), combined with pure funk of songs like "Readymade" or "21st Century" makes the perfect cross between rock and beauty.  A truly perfect album, that may not live up to BSSM, but certainly comes very, very close.

Top 5 Songs: "21st Century", "Readymade", "Snow (Hey Oh), "Wet Sand", "Stadium Arcadium"

3. Are You Experienced?

Image:AreyouexpUS.jpg

Reason For Picking: Listening to the album is explanation enough for the picking of this album, but I'll go on.  "Are You Experienced?" is an immortal album, that will live on like all the greatest albums of all time.  "Fire", "Purple Haze, "The Wind Cries Mary", all amazing.  Probably in terms of universal influence and popularity, the greatest album of the 20th century.

Top 5 Songs: "Fire", "Purple Haze", "I Don't Live Today", "The Wind Cries Mary", "Foxey Lady"

4. No Control

Image:BadReligionNoControl.jpg

Reason For Picking: And what we have here ladies and gentlemen, is what is called a perfect punk album.  This album may not even contain many of my favorite Bad Religion songs, but every song is catchy and exciting.  "Change of Ideas" has to be the best under a minute song ever written.  As my second favorite (for a long time, my favorite) band, Bad Religion has never been one to disappoint on any album.  "No Control" is no exception, with pure semi-melodic punk, this album is the king of punk rock albums.

Top 5 Songs: "No Control", "You", "I Want to Conquer the World", "Change of Ideas", "Henchman"

5. Californication

Image:RedHotChiliPeppersCalifornication.jpg

Reason for Picking: Once again, I hate to have three RHCP albums before I even have two BR albums, but I just can't deny "Californication" a spot in the top five!  Every song on this album is total art.  "Californication", "Scar Tissue", and "Road Trippin'" Are all beautifully emotional songs.  The typical funk of RHCP is also seen in "Around the World", "Purple Stain", "Get on Top", and "I Like Dirt".  This album is one of the 300 greatest of all time, in terms of great influence and ability.

Top 5 Songs: "Californication", "Around the World", "Scar Tissue", "Otherside", "Right on Time"

6. Generator

Image:BadReligionGenerator.jpg

Reason for Picking:  Now this album, DOES have alot of my favorite Bad Religion songs in it.  "Atomic Garden", and my all-time favorite "Generator" to name a few.  I don't have too much to say about this album, except it is the second best by BR.  It rocks the house of punk, and introduced the world of harmonious lyrics to Bad Religion.  If you're looking for a new kind of music, or just want some music, this is the perfect album to do so.

Top 5 Songs: "Generator", "Atomic Garden", "No Direction", "The Answer", "Heaven is Falling"

7. Kaya

 Image:BobMarley-Kaya.jpg

Reason For Picking:  I think that this by far the best work that Bob Marley ever did.  I great mix of rock with reggae was Bob's ****and led to the inspiration of many bands.  Such songs as "Kaya", "Sun is Shining", and "Crisis" showed how hard this man worked on his music.  This is an amazing album so pick it up from iTunes or whatever, and enjoy!

Top 5 Songs: "Crisis", "Kaya", "Time Will Tell", "Sun is Shining", "Misty Morning"

8. In Between Dreams

Image:InBetweenDreams.jpg

Reason For Picking: Johnson's music has always had a special place in my heart.  The peaceful, soothing music he put out is just beautiful.  Everything is great, and i can never wait for his next album.  This album, proved to be the best so far though.  Deeply meaningful songs like "Do You Remember", truly show Johnson's emotional side.  Fun songs like "Banana Pancakes" are just entertaining, and everything else works together.  It's a great album, so just take my word for it.

Top 5 Songs: "Banana Pancakes", "Better Together", "No Other Way", "Never Know", "Do You Remember"

9. Siamese Dream

Image:SmashingPumpkins-SiameseDream.jpg

Reason For Picking: Smashing Pumpkins is one of the greatest things that came out of the 90's.  This sophomore album has so many good songs, it's...well...great!!!  "Disarm" is the most beautiful song Smashing Pumpkins ever wrote.  Everything has been great with them, but this album really stands out.  This is a great way to get in touch with 90's music, and have a great time.

Top 5 Songs: "Today", "Disarm", "Mayonaise", "Rocket", "Cherub Rock"

10. How Could Hell Be Any Worse? (2004 Remaster Compilation)

Image:BadReligionHowCouldHellBeAnyWorse.jpg

Reason For Picking: Another one of Bad Religion's great installments.  The reason I wrote that it's the remastered version is because the original album only had 14 songs, while this one added all early EPs to it, so it became 28 songs.  There are so many fast paced exciting songs, but a few slower more melodic songs.  My favorite early song is "Along the Way".

Top 5 Songs: "Along the Way", "We're Only Gonna Die", "F**k Armageddon...This Is Hell", "Bad Religion", "Yesterday"

That took so long to do you have no idea.  Please comment on this!!!

Song of The Day!!! (4/19)

Someone spilled blood many years ago
someone spilled blood but do you know
that from the backwoods
where the Chuck Berrys grow
come your long tall
daddies of a rock and roll

Take me to your backwoods now
take me to your backwoods now

Spinning' down from the clouds
like a tornado
spinnin' out of control
like a psychedelic soul
with a rhythm hittin' harder
than Larry Holmes
come your long tall
daddies of rock and roll

Take me to your backwoods now
take me to your backwoods now

Mr. Uplift Mofo - my man Bo Diddley
hit sippin' a bottle of nickle ripple
play the lickity split finger licking licks
for all you wicked city slick chicks
and all you nitty gritty hick
we'll make your nipples ripple
make you wanna dip your dipple
make you wanna soak your hickory stick
because my man has a grip on it
and I do mean on it
which brings to mind
a very sinister minister kind of guy
a man named Little Richard
born to make them b*****s stir
that's right he'll make the sweet substance drip
from the middle of your hillbilly lips
and like the farmer milk his cow
the Howling Wolf will howl
and since times does allow
you all can

Take me to your backwoods now
Take me to your backwoods now
Take me to your backwoods now

Song of the Day!!!

I've decided that like many other users, I should have a song of the day.  Today, I'll put out two ones actually (the song's title is in white text under the lyrics if you wanna guess what it is:

Like a rock,
like a planet,
Like a f*****g atom bomb,
I'll remain unperturbed by the joy and the madness
that i encounter everywhere I turn
I've seen it all along
In book and magazines
like a twitch before dying
like a pornographic sea
there's a flower behind the window
there's an ugly laughing man
like a hummingbird in silence
like the blood on my door
it's the generator
oh yeah, oh yeah, like the blood on my door
wash me clean and I will run
until i reach the shore
I've known it all along
like the bone under my skin
like actors in a photograph
like paper in the wind
there's a hammer by the window
there's a knife on the floor
like turbines in darkness
like the blood on my door
it's the generator

Generator  By Bad Religion

Here's another:

There are no monks in my band
There are no saints in this land
I'll be doin' all I can
If I die an honest man

Confusion is my middle name
Ask me again I'll tell you the same
Persuaded by one sexy dame
No I do not feel no shame

[Chorus]
You are on the road
Can I get a little lovin' from you
Can I get a little bit of that done did do
You are on the road
Tell me now girl that you need me too
Tell me now girl cause I've got a feeling 4 you

Every man has certain needs
Talkin' 'bout them dirty deeds
To these needs I must concede
Livin' by my lowly creed

Woman please know that I'm good
Know that I did all I could
But yes it's true likelihood
Of being great is not so good

[Chorus]

There are no monks in my band
There are no saints in this land
I'll be doin' all I can
If I die an honest man

Virtue slipped into my shoe
No I will not misconstrue
More rockin' more rockin' now doobley do
Dancin' down your avenue

[Chorus]

Something I Forgot to Write About: One of the best concerts ever!!!

As only a few people probably know, I recently went to a Bad Religion (headliner)/ Tiger Army (supporter)/ The Briggs (opener) concert.  It was so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  The Briggs is probably the greatest opening band I have ever seen.  Tiger Army is a great band, and they should go pretty far (a cool note about tiger army is that the bassost has an old fashioned large standing bass).  And on to Bad Religion, the greatest punk band ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  In fact, sometimes I think they're too good to be considered punk, kinda like Social D.  Every song was a highlight song, but the main highlight, was a new unreleased song called "Heroes and Martyrs" off their upcoming album "New Maps of Hell".

In other music related news, Smasshing Pumpkins has announced that the new album, "Zeitgeist" will be released on 7/7/07, at precisely 7:07 AM.  A very interesting release date.  Social Distortion is also considering releasing a new album in late 2007, but there is no definite word.

Back to Submitting :D!!!

I finally found a little bit of time to squeeze in some contributions.  I'm going for an editorship for Greg Hetson, one of my favorite guitarists.  He had his signature guitar stolen.  Nooooooooo!!!  It's such an awesome guitar!!!!!

In other news, I won $75 in some essay contest my teacher forced me to do.  I thought it sucked, but it got second.

Wah-Wah Pedal

Today, I'm buying a Dunlop Crybaby Wah-Wah pedal!!!  Finally I can play all my favorite Hendrix and Frusciante solos!!!

Concert!!!

I am probably going to see Bad Religion live on April 6th.  It depends on if I can find tickets under $60 each or not.

Powerless

I finally got power out at my house.  I lost power at about noon today because of heavy wind.  Iwas studying with a little lamp, when I heard my printer turn on.  Power!!!  So I'm on again.  My internet isn't acting up as much recently either.
