Its time to see what all the fuss is about...

So my friend recently (today actually) let me borrow his copy of Final Fantasy VII for the playstation for however long it takes for me to finish it...yeah. He said that would mean I'd have it for...a long time. Anyway, I've played about an hour of it so far, and even though I obviously haven't played enough of it to have a truely valid opinion of it, I am quite enjoying it so far.

And now, its time to go play some more Final Fantasy 7....

Wow...

Y'know...me and my dad just finished a "discussion" as he calls them, and believe it or not, he's actually partially convinced me to not get a Wii anymore...

Its crazy....I dunno how he did it, but now I just...don't want a Wii that much. He said that I just buy everything the day it comes out, and then continued his rant into various other areas (some of which are true)....

Damn him and his "life experience" rants

The culmination of anticipation

Okay, so Kingdom Hearts II was released in America roughly 6 months ago. The game was supposed to be released on the 28th of September (exactly 6 months from the American release if I'm not mistaken). But no! Not for us who pre-ordered the game. Ho ho, we get it two days earlier (well at least I did, my local EBgames got an early shipment or something). Want proof?

Theres your proof damn it!

Now you be asking yourself, "but demonic jim (as some forum-ers have called me), isn't it a good thing that you got it two days earlier!?"

NO its not damn it! You see, coincidentally, the game was supposed to be released the day before the school holidays start over here in Australia, then, I could spend all the time I wanted to play the game the next few days without school interfiering. I still don't see the point of this so called education. What has knowledge ever done for us?

Also, my friend let me borrow the original Kingdom Hearts for me to play again, seeing that the last time I had played the game was about four years ago so yeeeaaah....a story re-cap would be useful.

So now, being the patient, attractive type of person that I am, I shall wait until I finish the original Kingdom Hearts before I start the new one. Also, I've only put about 10 hours into Kingdom Hearts so I still have a fair bit to go....

But it will be worth it. And if not, I'll get stabby.

So like...my PSP is kinda boring me now

Yeah. I got my PSP at the Australian launch last year, and at first I was very pleased with it. But now, it seems the only handheld I've been playing is my DS, and I don't think that will change anytime soon, what with games like Castlevania Portrait of Ruin, Legend of Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass, Final Fantasy III, Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon coming out.

Thats right. I happen to like Pokemon games. Big woop, wanna fight about it?

Anyway, and what does the PSP have? Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories and Def Jam: Fight for NY Takeover or whatever its called. Those two games are the only games for the PSP that I may buy that are coming out this year. That is, if I still have my PSP by the end of the year.

Of coarse, I still play my Japanese import of Tekken Dark Resurrection fairly regularly, but I don't think it'll keep me busy for much longer. I mean, I did put in countless hours into Tekken 5, so Tekken Dark Resurrection can only last so long. Although I have been playing it for a good month now, and I still have a lot to do.

Another factor is the Wii. Ah yes, the new generation system. If I were to sell my PSP and all my games for it, that would probably pay for the Wii itself, if my calculations are correct.

But I doubt I will sell my PSP. Afterall, a similar thing like this happened with my DS last year, but then Nintendogs came around, and since then, I've had a lot of DS games to play. And now that I think about it, theres still Smackdown vs Raw 07 to look forward to. I spent a very, very long time playing the GM mode in Smackdown vs Raw 06' on my PSP, so maybe that game will change things, but as I said, one or two games aren't worth keeping a system for. Oh well, I guess I'll decide the fate of my PSP soon enough.

Catch up on the current gen, or leap into the new one?

So the other day, I re-bought Super Smash Bros. Melee (I dunno why I sold it in the first place), and it go me wondering. Maybe instead of saving money on saving for the Wii I should be using the money on games that, due to my ignorance of videogames before coming to Gamespot I missed out on. Games like:

  • Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker
  • Super Mario Sunshine
  • Metal Gear Solid 2
  • Metal Gear Solid 3 (although Subsistance is coming out in October over here in Australia)
  • Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (well, I had played previous GTA games, but suddenly I'm craving them).

So maybe the list isn't that huge (especially because each of those games are quite cheap these days), I would still like to add them to my ever growing collection, which I can't really do if I'm saving all my money for the next generation.

Birthday Boy = Me

Thats right, last Wednesday (26th) it was my Birthday. No one bought me anything, but i go a crap load of money (about $460 Australian, which is roughly $305 American) and so far I've bought one game -- Guitar Hero, and so far its freakin' awesome. Only thing is, my PS2 isn't working, so I have to reset the game 50 times before it load properly (not 50, but point is it rarely loads up the game).

I saved $210 on Wii (so now I've got $260/ about $400 all togerther ^_^) and the rest of the money I'm just keeping so long, just for spare cash if and when I need it.

Birthdays are awesome >_>

Finally it arrived!

So after 4 days of waiting, my copy of Tekken Dark Resurrection has arrived, and so far, so good. Really, really good. Unfortunately though, the site i ordered it off (Ebay) advertised it as the US. Version, or at least the English Asian version, but its actually the pure Asian version, although there is some English in it, like the menu's and stuff. Unfortunately the subtitles for when the characters speak are in Japanese, but thats not really a problem because i played Tekken 5 last year, so i already know what happens.

The first thing i noticed about this game is that it looks spectacular. In fact, i don't feel bold to say it looks nearly as good as the PS2 version (though there are some blurry and low resolution textures). Seriously, it looks that freaking good. All of the CG videos are present and they essentially look identical to the ones found on the PS2.

The controls are great. Some people are complaining that the default D-Pad makes it hard to pull off some of the harder moves, but so far i haven't had little to no trouble pulling off the more complicated moves, well at least the ones that require the D-Pad. I have, however had some trouble pulling off some combos where you would tilt to PS2 controller on its side to make easier to pull off, because of coarse, with the PSP, the screen and the controller are pretty much the same thing. But its only rarely when i do have trouble with the controls.

Because i played Tekken 5 last year though, the story mode doesn't really entice me much, especially since all of the characters are available right from the start, so most of my time goes into survivor, time attack and the new gold rush and Tekken dojo modes, and so far i'm having a ball.

From what i've played this game is really freakin' awesome. The graphics are outstanding and the game plays as smoothly as it looks. I would have rather waited for the English version if i knew that the version i ordered was the Japanese version, but i don't regret buying it, because i'm having a blast.
