Do I really have the chance to get Atomic Heart, Returnal, or Resident Evil? Sounds somewhat like BS hype by gamespot just to make it sound more exciting.
@maltnut: The quote you used says nothing about no guns being used. It is ambiguous, and can mean current tense, future tense, or simply that's his philosophy about how safe handling is/should be done.
You may read the GRITR article "John Wick Guns: the Overview of the Top Firearms Used," under the heading "What’s a Movie Prop," first paragraph, second sentence: "In the Wick series, the actors use only real firearms for realism."
Regardless of whether they did or didn't, that wasn't the main point/most important part of what I talked about, and everything else I wrote is still valid.
@maltnut: Dude, quote for me one place it says they DID NOT use guns in any movies of the John Wick series. You have zero reading comprehension, the article says he doesn't BELIEVE guns should be used. Nowhere does it say that no guns were used.
The reality is that you won't get the same weight, recoil, reaction from the actor, or muzzle-flash/smoke interaction with the environment/actors with cgi. I'm not the only one who talks about realism/for whom realism is important, it's why real guns are used in movies.
"Personally I think the guns in the John Wick series look plenty real enough to not break immersion"
It's ironic you say that, because John Wick uses real guns. I'd also like to remind you, that Keanu Reeves also knows how & has real-world training on how to use real firearms safely.
"Safety is obviously being sacrificed, because incidents keep happening. Yes, they're rare, but still completely avoidable."
Please name the other numerous incidents aside from the incident with Brandon Lee and the negligent handling by ignorant Baldwin.
Yes, they can be avoided: by non negligent handling - just as accidents with cars and explosions are avoided by not being negligent.
And once again, it's very hypocritical & telling to say that we can somehow make these other potentially dangerous things safe, yet we can't do the same with guns.
@maltnut: Cgi is not realistic, bb/airsoft guns are not realistic. Guns are used because the alternatives cannot match the level of realism. It's the same reason directors use special effects explosions over cgi when possible. They're not sacrificing safety, because using guns doesn't preclude safe handling by professionals who follow precautions and know what they're doing.
@marcg: 1. "except," not accept. 2. It is true, any deaths have been the very small exception. Cars are dangerous, knives are dangerous, nail-guns are danger - all of the danger can be mitigated through proper & safe handling and not handling them like toddlers.
In general, guns have been used safety in movies & TV, and just as with special effects explosions, accidents can be avoided through not being negligent and improper handling. It's hypocritical to say that we can somehow figure out how to safety handle these other potentially dangerous things, yet not guns.
