@goobermcdermit: To be fair, it didn't matter what they did. Scalpers (especially with the addition of bots) are notoriously good for getting around limitations in ways that a company can't control (such as paying a few bucks to a friend to buy an extra system to bypass a one-per-customer thing). It's just something that is going to happen regardless of preparation.
@WingZero0782: You really think a few hundred or a few thousand additional XBSX's would've made that much of a difference in the large scheme of things? Because it really wouldn't. That's the reality of it.
Covid being the reason for bugs or delays is understandable, but they actually think that they can use Covid as a justification for poor fundamental design decisions. The fact that they think that people are stupid enough that they can get away with such an excuse made me go from being 50/50 on getting it to a big nope.
@brightamethyst: I agree. It made sense with the Desmond Miles arc, but it feels right now like they're trying desperately to figure out what to do with the story and force in the modern portions just because it was there since the first game.
@videogameninja: The only issue is that it's so early in development that it's coming out after the new DA game... which probably isn't that far in development itself. I highly doubt that the "veteran team" is that large since they'd have to put enough of their resources into making the DA game good enough to salvage their reputation. It feels like it was announced in as early in development as Megaman Legends 3, for example, and look how easily that game was cancelled by Capcom.
Until we get more information about the game (given that we don't even have a title placard or ANYTHING), I would suggest curbing your positivity about the game. I don't like being negative normally about announcements of series I used to love, but Bioware's recent misses have made me a little wary and I doubt EA will let them continue as-is if their new Dragon Age game fails
@Chizaqui: It's "obvious" to you because you expected it, coming into an article about it. When your game has been normal and then gets suddenly hacked to jumpscare you when you're in the hub world, the one place players expect to be able to relax and not be scared in, then it's not obvious and your guard is down. It makes the scares way worse since at least in the missions you are mentally expecting scares to happen even if you don't know when.
Those screams aren't an overreaction when they aren't expecting it at all, and can be extremely stressful when they're trying to wind down between missions. I hope you never have to go through something where you try to relax after something high-intensity but some jerk refuses to let you do that. That sort of thing can ruin experiences for any game much less horror.
