Its been a long time since I've posted in this journal, maybe because I haven't played at all, so I couldn't talk about my gaming experience, fortunately enough I've found a gap in my studies to play some of the best games I've ever played, it's interesting to see that all of them were first person shooters.
My father came back from a trip and he brought some great games, those games were:
For the PC: Halo, Half Life 2 (Counter Strike: Source included), Unreal Tournament 2004
For the PS2: Medal of Honor: Frontline, Extermination.
I've played all of them except Extermination, game that I'll be leaving for last, this is what I've got to say about them.
Half Life 2 was a challenging game, even on easy dificulty set, I loved every aspect of the game, the graphics, the voice acting, man, that game was quite fun, no wonder why that game got such high grades, too bad that my father could only find the spanish version, thing that can really downgrade a game, specially if it is spanish from spain (hearing the G-Man telling his monologue from the beginning of the game in that awful accent..., well, I won't give any more details, since most of the people loves it a lot, me included).
Half Life 2 has also its multiplayer part of course, those components are the well known CS:Source, and Half Life 2: Deathmatch, CS has been a great game since its origins (just a Half Life mod) and the adittion of the source engine, makes this a great game to be played, I had played this game for a long time back in college, but the main problem is that the cyber cafe can get quite expensive, but in there you can find tons of people who play this game and the matches are quite fun (think of it, there's about 20 people playing for each team, that implies that the cyber cafe has a powerful LAN server).
Half Life 2: Deathmatch its an interesting game to play, but it's too bad that you can't find much people who play this game online, but the premise is quite simple, a free for all deathmatch that features characters from Half Life 2 (mainly Combine Soldiers and Civilian rebels) with weapons that you can use in Half Life 2 and it features a "brand new" weapon that it is the electrical club from Civil protection (you know the kind of stuff that the combines keeps whacking you on early stages of the game).
Unreal Tournament 2004 its still a great multiplayer game with tons of game modes available, and unlike Half Life 2: Deathmatch, this game still has tons of people who play this game in every game mode available, my personal favorite its the good old Capture the flag and Invasion, but who's complaining about the rest of the game modes anyway, the only thing that I don't like too much its the fact that some people can be such a giant *** and keep trolling, insulting and being a complete *******, but you can always ignore that in order to enjoy your game to a maximum.
Halo its a great game, that features great graphics, interesting plot, and state of the art sound effects and music, it may have come some time ago, but I haven't been able to play this game until now that I've got it on PC (after all I don't have an XBox, and I'm not planning to get one anyway), this game fortunatelly came in its original language, thing that haven't ruined my expectations unlike the horrible translation from HL2.
Medal of Honor: Frontline may seem out of the league from the rest of the games that I've gotten so far, but still the graphics, the plot relation with the WW2, the controller display and the music made this game a great piece of collection, but right know I'm playing the other games, but still looking forward for this game in any case.
