@wyan_ I don't get it in Microsoft's sake. Based on different architecture? The 360 was powered by basically PC architecture and an ATi video card. This, from what I can tell, is PC architecture also. If it's as much more powerful than the PS4 was than the PS3, they could at least have an emulator on it.
@LukeWesty @jonaadams 3D with the Move in Killzone was really awesome. You wouldn't want to play too seriously like that but there is some really nice immersion factor.
@Karmazyn These are current gen. I don't understand why PC elitists refuse to acknowledge when a developer has done a good job optimizing their game to get the most out of a console. They probably did some post processing anti-aliasing, but that's it.
@sev2010 It's not really a cliche, it's a valid argument. I was saying that I'd believe it when I see it when Reggie was talking about how they were addressing their lackluster performance with third-party developers on Wii with the Wii U, and now I'm glad I didn't get my hopes up. Gamers have a right to be skeptical. It's hard to believe an argument from a huge company that they will be going against what is proven to sell. I think Sony has done pretty good in the past, but they really don't have to do anything with PS4 but improve the online reliability and make sure multiplatforms are on par with Xbox 720. Really my only two arguments against PS3.
@Halloll @CecilChups @SpiderLuke Battlefield 3? You mean that game that supports 40 more players on PC, has completely different map boundaries and doesn't even look like the same game running maxed on PC? Yeah, I play on Xbox but Battlefield is about the worst argument for how multiplatform releases are ruining PC games. Close quarters battles are even completely different because of the fact that the Xbox and PS3 versions have their framerates locked at 30. I was surprised just to see that the console version has a server browser.
@petez34 @grasshopper6 This. The cheap beer from Japan and Europe are way better than ours. I know that the popular ghetto beer in Denmark would give a lot of the US 6-pack only quality beers/microbrews a run for their money.
The thing I don't like about PC gaming is I feel like developers get lazy in terms of optimization. On consoles, the developers are forced to deal with a platform that is unupgradable and they find workarounds and smooth out inefficiencies. Just look at Halo 4, it's actually the first Halo to run natively in 720p as opposed to upscaled from 1164x546 or whatever and it still looks better and runs the same as Halo 3 did (aside from split-screen), Gears is the same, Uncharted, Heavy Rain versus Beyond: Two Souls, Mass Effect etc. When developing PC games, the developer can just raise the minimum and recommended specifications.
Even though it's multiplatform, I just think about something like Metro 2033. That game is often used as a benchmark just because of how poorly optimized it was. At the same time, name how many games you can play on PC with volumetric lighting and other graphical techniques like Uncharted has, running with 256MB of system RAM and 256MB of GPU RAM like the PS3 does.
Oh God.. As someone who lived in Sausalito, Mill Valley, San Rafael and Corte Madera, that guy IS from Marin County at 42 minutes haha. It's soooo boring in Marin.
