@PapaDocThomson Saints Row made a game that was basically directly taking on GTA. They were smart to make the sequels more outlandish and ridiculous; it has a completely different appeal than GTA and doesn't take itself seriously. Why would a far newer IP try to dethrone a heavyweight that nobody even has issues with?

I understand that you can buy your own external hard drive for cheaper than the markup of what Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo charges, but storage is so cheap that it's stupid that Nintendo includes such little memory. My iPhone and the majority of people with smartphones have twice the memory of the maximum you can get in the Wii U. This is way too early in the console cycle to be telling the people with any Wii U that they need more hardware to play a Lego game.

Keep in mind too, you can get a hard drive for cheaper, but streaming game information over USB 2.0? Not exactly a high-thouroughput connection there.

@HKILLER88888 To be fair, while Crytek's games are always some of the most demanding, they do some sort of wizardry that makes them control fluidly even during slowdown. It's like they somehow make slowdown not affect input lag as much.

@Black_Pander I have no idea what kind of computer you have, but I wouldn't be so sure about that. Racing games from my experience seem to have an easier time looking great without stressing your computer as much.

Hit up the game gangsters from 199.. I'm just kidding, that's someone else's job. I must say this looks like one of those games that was given a reversely inflated low-score out of spite or disappointment (i.e. RE6). It seems like a mediocre game, not a game that makes you angry. I think anything under 5 should be a game that is either so buggy it's difficult to play or is incomplete or just horrible.

@OHGFawx While I use my Xbox for all of those aforementioned things, I agree. Especially because I can get all of those things from at least one other device that's connected to my TV. The one thing I can't get from Vizio apps or my phone or my laptop are games (well, I can, but not the same games, ok well I can get a lot of the same games on my Mac/PC, but that's not the point). While obviously Microsoft didn't exactly just grab people from the gaming devision and put them in charge of the Maxim app, they're still pooling from whatever amount of money Microsoft is dedicating to the console, and in terms of that, they're taking a major backseat. It's like they've just decided:

"Give money to 343 for Halo and Epic for Gears, and people will live with whatever else comes out because people have already chosen Xbox over PS3 in the US by a fair margin, we've given up on Japan, and Nintendo hasn't proven itself to be a direct competition. Good thing most people build their multiplats for Xbox and port them to PS3".

Honestly, if Sony can get their s*** together in terms of delivering a better online experience, they've got my money for the next console generation. They have so many more exclusive IP's that are worth playing, and the Kinect has proven itself more in the hands of hackers than Microsoft itself, who have done nothing but get me yelling "GARRUS! CONCUSSION SHOT!" at my TV.

@DanO124 Yeah I'm sure the publisher had nothing to do with that idea so we should blame it all on the developer. How many FPS developers do you know of that haven't made any games for consoles and are successful right now? Because I for one cannot think of one.

Jesus, I thought I remembered this game looking much better, although I think part of that was A. The fact that it was 2004 and B. The fact that videos always seem overly bright, compressed and with poor black levels compared to actually playing the game.

@Dragonaf1 I'm pretty sure this is what the PS3 can do. This game is also on PS3 and I'm pretty sure this footage is from that. The screen resolution is too high to be 3DS footage.

@ZakMcKracken The recoil has been adjusted since release, but you are mistaken; Before Call of Duty, Counter-Strike set the standard for unforgiving recoil. Now Call of Duty has essentially set the standard for barely any recoil. In CS, the second shot from the AK is literally halfway up the screen from the first.
