Most games run in 720p or 1080i. Some do run in 1080p. It's all up to the developer to decide what they want to use. I'm sure they take into account how good they want it to look, versus the cost of developing the superior image. mosespippy
So I guess the more demanding games run in lower resoutions then

Check out what this guy did with it, awesome!:

It's not the smallest of cases, but it does allow for larger heatsinks, its even possible to have internal watercooling!
This case can take normal sized PSU'. However with other cases you may need to get a Micro ATX PSU
I'm going to be building a new computer within the coming months. My budget is $1,000 and under.Ironfungus
I'd go for the Q6600 or the Q6700. They offer the best price performance ratio, and a 4 series ATI card. Personally I have nvidia, but you cant really argue with the value for money that ATI offer at the moment (Hurry up 300 Series Nvidia!).
Also the Q6600 is known for good Overclocks, so it leaves some overhead for improvement later on.
Sorry to hear about your GPU R.I.P
If it's a choice beteen the two get the
Sapphire Radeon HD 3850 Video CardWell the speed and the number of cores, and overclockability.
Of course you need to make sure you get a CPU compatible with your mothrboard.
Are you upgrading or building a new one?
Personally I would get the thing with the most core and fastest speed you can afford.
How much are you looking to spend?
Only a few games can run in full 1080p, at this moment. And that number should increase over the coming years..pokerchamp1
Really thats terrible? I always thought they were 1080p, thats how they sell them :(
Oh well...
What resoultion are they actually in then? What a waste of a 1080p Monitor.
So wait a sec, if they can't make 1080p games now, why would they be able to in the future if the hardware is the same?
Do they need to unlock the power or something?
It doesn't change depending on whatever video card you have installed. I could swap out my 9600GT that has 512MB and put in any that has 1GB and the amount of memory that shows in my ssytem properties will still be 4GB on my Vista 64.
hercule5
Of course it will show 4GB on your vista 64. It's 64 Bit.
How do you check if your CPU is single or dual core? Sorry, I'm a computer noob.starwarsgeek112
Pentium D is single core, and known to be pretty bad for games :( sorry to say.
A good program to find out info on your CPU is CPUZ
It also gives info on RAM and motherboard, pretty useful tool
[QUOTE="Large_Soda"][QUOTE="bpw8"]if you know anything about computer monitors 1080p means 1920 x 1080 resolution and the p stands for progressive which means all the lines of the image are drawn on the screen at the same time while 1080i where i stands for interlaced only half the line are drawn on the screen and then the other half on the next screen but it happens so fast the human eye doesn't really notice it. but you can tell with fast moving images. so games look great because its writing 1080 lines of an image on the screen at the same time which in the end just looks sexy. does that help? SuperMario254
Human eye doesn't really notice it............you can tell with fast moving images..........games look great. Kind of a conflicting response.
while conflicting it is also correct.. if you were to say watch law and order in 480i and 1080p there would be no difference aside from the sharpness of the image (there wouldnt be screen tearing).. where as if you were to watch someone play... heavenly sword for example and you were at the level where you run down the big rope and you were to play it on a 480i tv and then a 1080p tv there would be a LARGE difference.. not only in sharpness of the picture (sharpness in this case meaning that there arnt alot of jagged lines around the objects in the game) but there would be also less visual "screen tearing" which is what happens when an interlaced tv/resolution only loads half of the lines at a time and is most noticable when for example, you whip the camera around causing it to look like the top of a building is not centered on the rest of it because the bottem lines refreshed faster then the top.So what you are saying it that the quality is relaitive to the source?
So the game / video image has to be up to scratch, or else the extra Pixels are wasted.
All PS3 games are in 1080p? right?
