I too have a slim 120g. It shut off on me a few times about 5 days ago. I recieved Bioshock 2 from Gamefly and started to play...granted I could not update the game because the PSN was down. About an hour in it turned off and went to the red light standby. Never the YLOD. Someone on the forums suggested I delete the Bioshock 2 data/game saves and it never turned off on me again. Now, it's only been about 10 hours of gameplay since then, but still no random shut off. My system is 14 months old. If you have been playing CoD for a long time it shouldn't be a problem with any of the data/saves. If you can wait... back everything up via SONY's virtual database when the network is back and try messing with some stuff.
I also moved my system out from the tv stand "cubby." Some say it was too warm.
I'm thinking of getting an Xbox 360. I had one that died back in 2008. So, since then I've been using the PS3. I wanted to know what games you think are worth playing that are Xbox 360 exclusives... hence pushing me to get the system. Of course, I've seen/played Halos, GoW, etc. Anything you guys like to play?
Metal Gear Solid 4. When it realesed I bought it, played the hell out of it for weeks no problem. Then a few months later after I sold it I got an itch to play it again, borrowed it from a friend, and all hell broke loose. The game would freeze after the first 5 minutes of the opening, and with the game data installed all my other games would freeze up. I currently have a copy I grabbed at gamestop and never have a problem. Idk I guess the game disc is corrupted some weird way that it decides not to agree with certain PS3s.

Maybe because it was the only game I've tried to play since the network went down that I've never played before. I couldn't do the game update because the network is busted. Maybe.
