haha! reading the title of this thread made me LOL because it's so true! PS3's are supposed to have, what, an 8 - 10 year lifespan or something?? The iPhone will have a new version by next year while all these people are still locked in their contract. Crazy!

Tell ya what... bust your ass to earn enough to buy your dad a nice sleek new laptop w/ built in wireless and the works. Maybe he'll buy the router for himself and you can leech off of it like you do everything else.

Don't be cheap...just buy it.Carbon_

haha... it's not a matter of spending money, it's wasting it that I'm worried about. I'm trying to learn from my mistakes from last gen when I bought a new game almost every week and it just ended up collecting dust.

I know, I know... not another one of these threads. Well, I searched the older/similar topics but none of 'em really answered my question.

I enjoyed playing GeOW, but I considered this more of a run n' gun rather than a tactical shooter. Not so much of a run n' gun when compared to HALO, but still a shoot 'em up shooter.

After seeing GeOW actually being called a "tactical" shooter and R6:V obviously a tactical shooter... will I enjoy R6:V? I was never a big fan of Tom Clancy games, but after hearing all the great reviews of R6:V, I'm considering getting it for my PS3.

What are you thoughts? Get it... don't get it?? I've been trying to rent it, butit's NEVER available on Gamefly!!!

I think games should make you want to play them until your bored with them, not until you reach some odd point goal.

I played oblivion for 160 hrs, I think that's enough man!

lamplan

So by your logic, you wouldn't mind playing a game that had no ending. It would just keep going until you got bored??

Isn't beating a game the same as some "odd point goal"?

Take GH2 on the 360 for example. I'm a novice to rhythm games, but I completed the career mode in medium. I couldn't complete 1 song on the "hard" level and was getting pretty "bored" with trying, but did I quit?? Nope. I went back and attempted to get the acheivement for completing all songs in Medium w/ 5 stars.

They usually have fliers on the counters at Gamestop. I saw a flier for the 2-for-1 deal and the fine print on the bottom shows the exclusions and expiration date. I'm gonna do the 2-for-1 for NG:Sigma!

I like the acheivement system too. It gives me a reason to play the game a 2nd time around but at a more difficult setting.

I believe Sony has "accomplishments" which will award you with trophies to display in PS HOME. I'm not sure if they will have any type of "gamerscore" though.

Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Someone on the xbox live forum on xbox.com pointed out that the hard drives are killing the console gaming experience right now. It's taken the after PC games where "downloadable" content is now available for a price. Had hard drives not been incorporated with gaming consoles... games would not be released until completed. Nowadays games are being released with content available later. This "available content" should have been included on the full retail version of the game... no add-ons! The hard drive has given devs the opportunity to get lazy and release a game that's only 85% done.

Cry, whine, moan, throw a temper-tantrum, do whatever it takes for her to get you BOTH!!!Halo3FTW

Haha! Yeah, get both!! Do you have a Gamestop/EB nearby? Do you have their Edge card?? You can get 10% off of Forza 2 (used) and get a new copy of The Darkness. I mean, come on, it's your 360's anniversary!

Your mom can buy you one game at a time throughout the lifespan of your 360, but come anniversary time... 2 games and no less!!

gears first, because that is the game to own if you have an 360 at the moment. Maybe you shuld look at forza as well thats supposed to be really good. Don't get Guitar Hero II though, especially if you've already played it, because Guitar Hero III is coming out in September i think, or sometime in Fall. Just my opinion thoughbigmick07

Good Call!!! GH3 will be out this year. Buy the GH3/Guitar bundle. I heard rumors of a wireless guitar for GH3, but don't quote me on that. You can probably find GH2 (game only) used at that time also.

Just buy Gears and 1-year subscription for Live... if you already had Live budgeted, then pick up Forza. Those 2 games (plus Halo 3 9/25)should keep you plenty busy while waiting for GH3 to come out.
