With the3 Red Lights and overheating issues with the X360 and PS3 respectively, does the Wii require as much space and ventilation that the other consoles need?

I ask because I have my X360 and PS3 outside of the entertainment center and the Wii has it's own area inside my entertainment center, plenty of space but not quite as much ventilation as the others. Do I risk overheating with this console?

I'm pretty satisfied with how much gaming I get in during the week.

I'm 27 with 3 kids (started early!)... Luckily my 2 eldest are 10 and 8 1/2, so I get to enjoy the Wii with them pretty much whenever I'd like to. My XBL buddies are also ex co-workers with lives and kids of their own. It's usually not a problem to get some XBL time in on Friday nights. We usually get on GeOW for a good 6 - 7 hours while the house is asleep. That's more than enough for my online gaming fix. I'm usually able to squeeze in an hour or so a day to play Forza 2 maybe 2-3 times a week... but if I don't, it doesn't bother me.

The whole family enjoys the Wii.

Both the kids and I enjoy playing Guitar Hero II on the X360. (the wife can't get into it, don't know why)

My son and I are currently campaigning through Marvel: UA on the PS3 (other than that, I'm still in the "waiting" game for PS3 titles)

Just don't blow a lot of cash on games. Buy the games you know will get a lot of play and you won't feel like you're wasting money. You already have the Wii, so you might as well keep it. It's also a great "party" console for when you have visitors over that are not necessarily gamers.

I think the 1 year that the X360 was available before the launch of the PS3 really hurt Sony.  Sure, there are many Brand Loyal gamers who were willing to wait for the PS3, but there are others, like myself, who picked up an Xbox 360 to play during that 1 year wait.  This, along with the high price tag and loss of key exclusives will keep current X360 owners from picking up a PS3... especially when what was once a "Playstation Exclusive" is now mulitplat.  A "System Selling" exclusive must be released for the PS3 and soon!  Come to think of it... had I not bought the X360 and opted to wait for the PS3, I'd be pretty upset with the fact that after waiting for 1 year for the PS3, I'd have to wait another year for the good games to come.

Thanks everyone.

The screen shots of crysis look bad ass!!

If you can't tell already, I'm a pretty casual gamer.  It'd be great to just log on and blow stuff up!  LOL.

I originally set my budget at $1800, but after shopping around and finding out about a bunch of price drops that will happen this summer and all the rebates happening all the time, I truly believe I can build the PC I want for $1500... although I may have to settle for a 20" monitor rather than the 22".

You'll see me in the PC Hardware forum a lot this summer.

I apologize if threads like these have been brought up countless times.  I'm pretty new to the boards and this is my first time in the PC Games forum.

In regards to gaming, I've been a console gamer all of my gaming life.  From the original Nintendo to my most recent system, the PS3.

Our home is in need of a new PC.  I could pick up some random package at Costco but I thought I'd give it a shot at building my own pc.  I've given myself a budget of $1200 - $1500 for a complete gaming system.  Through research I've found that this budget could actually produce a really decent system.  I'm trying to complete the build before the next school year starts, so hopefully by August or September at the latest.

Great, so I've decided to see what kind of games I could look forward to with my new system.  I'm a FPS gamer.  I can enjoy the occasional Adventure and Racing game, but mainly FPS's (HALO, GeoW, and RFOM).  I don't have the patience for RPG's and RTS's.  My problem is, I don't see any PC "exclusive" FPS's coming soon.  Unless I haven't dug deep enough, most of the future FPS's are also being released on consoles.  If I had a choice, I would choose the console platform.

Are there any PC exclusive FPS's out or soon to come out that could help me committ to investing in building a PC?  I've always read in the console forums that there are tons of great games only available on PC.

I should also mention that I play mainly for multiplayer games.  I don't really have time to play the campaign modes.

Any thoughts?

Bottom line is the graphics on the Wii may get marginly better but it's only going to go from TRASH to slighty better TRASH in comparison to A real next gen graphic system.

The_Gimp07

It should be compared to next gen GAMING systems... [keyword:  GAMING].  I buy consoles to play games (even the PS3, which I originally bought as a cheap alternative for a Blu-Ray player) and gameplay is key with consoles.  The gameplay on the Wii is great not to mention the new "gamers" it has pulled in to the industry.  I've always played video games with my kids, but since the Wii, my wife also joins in when she want's to whoop my a$$ in Tennis.

True, they don't offer the best graphics when it comes to multiplatform games and Nintendo will probably lose a few players who are sold on graphics, BUT they will continue to bring in new gamers who enjoy family friendly mini/party games.

Saying the Wii will fail is out of the question.

Risky investment if you ask me. Either format can still lose this war they have. If it's HDDVD you have useless hardware there.

Personally, I'm still ok with regular DVD's. I don't own an HDTV anyway. All too expensive.

FearlessSpirit

If you can afford an HDTV and a 360, $200 is not a lot to drop on an HD-DVD player.  Sure HDDVD could lose the war against Blu-Ray, but that war is going to last for another 3-5 year maybe more.  In those 3-5 years, you'll be able to enjoy movies in HD while waiting for the price of Blu-Ray Disc players to drop (should BR win the war).

That's not in US Dollars... my guess is it's the same if not more expensive to get from that site.
