Well, I might finally have NHL on a PC again, but other than that my game library would be more or less reduced to what I have now plus whatever good indy games come out.

Let me start by saying that there is a special circle of hell reserved for those that cheat, hack, exploit, etc. in any multiplayer game. That said, I'm just curious how many of you out there prolong the life of your game by screwing with your games to have some more fun after you've finished their normal life span. Personally, I won't use them until I've gotten bored of the game in question, and I'm just looking to have some more pointless fun before the game gets deleted. For example, and this one's going way back, those of you who modded the RA2.exe file in Red Alert 2 to change the unit values, or maybe use hex editors or programs like 'poke' to give yourself extra money or resources, or just codes that may have originally been programed into the game. For instance in my case, I must have gotten an extra few hundred hours out of Civilization 5 after I got bored of the scenarios just by using the SDK and making a map where my start point has all the strategic and luxury resources and was fairly isolated from the rest of the map. Then once I had gained a substantial lead over all of the AI, basically control the world as I see fit. Another one is in Shogun 2, once I had beaten the campaign several times with a few different provices, I used a program called 'Poke' to essentially make sure I always had a large wad of cash to blow.

When it comes to realistic games (Arma, some sports titles, sim titles like D.C.S, etc.), I think a lot of the 'fantasy' comes from the realism, if you know where I'm coming from here. Whether it's stepping into the shoes of a soldier or playing alongside your sports heroes, it's all a fantasy in the end. I know you're referring more to a fantasy setting, but when you boil it down the vast majority of games are all playing out one fantasy or another. For example, I always wanted to be a fighter pilot growing up, and still do as an adult, and despite the fact that I have a private pilot's license, chances are now pretty slim that I'll ever pilot a supersonic fighter. However, whenever I get the urge I can boot up any of the D.C.S games, and I'm instantly (well, maybe not instantly, if you know DCS...), in the pilot's seat of any number of strike or fighter craft in an environment that's about as realistic as you can get in a retail product. In my opinion, it's the immersion of a game and the realism that can make it more of a personal 'fantasy' game.

Well if you're thinking of learning and you don't have a piano, I would suggest a decent digital piano. Buy something with weighted keys at the very least, you'll probably be looking at about $600 minimum new, significantly less used (if you can find one). I can recommend a very good music store for purchase, if you don't mind shipping from Canada. It's Axe Music out of Edmonton, Alberta, www.axemusic.com, I've bought both of my guitars, my bass, and my keyboard there and I've never seen better prices. Either way I use a Korg SP-250, a decent low-midrange full size digital piano that ran me about $1000 (BTW Korg products are great, their customer service is bloody awful).

Right now, since I just beat the game, I'm really in love with Final Fantasy X-2's main theme.

Too bad the rest of the soundtrack is not that great.

Well sir, you've just given me another reason to expedite getting my digital piano fixed. Yet another FF track that I'm going to learn to play. If you play piano there is no better series than Final Fantasy when you're looking for something to play. 'Battle With Gilgamesh' from FFV is honestly the most fun I've ever had on a keyboard. This guy does a damn good version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGJVixEuCu8

For the actual theme: MGS 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QiPon8lr48U For a track that might as well be the theme: Unsung War from Ace Combat 5 c/w an cool AMV someone put together http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIfcxooyWII Honestly Keiko Kobayashi has got to be my favorite video game composer.

If Hideo Kojima made a console it wouldn't even come with a controller. JML897
Man, if Hideo made a console it would probably utilize some form of telepathy for input and would probably run on magic, or unicorn giggles, or something crazy like that... Oh, and the story of it's development would be so twisted and convoluted that you'd need to be a 30 year veteran psychologist just to understand it...

I've heard a lot about it but never got the chance to try it. Considering picking it up during the steam sale...

Describe what's so moments that make the game great? I saw like the A10 warthog and it looked just like a flight sim game.

First off, let me start by saying that Arma II is the first game I've ever bought that I had no intention of ever playing (gifts not included). I bought it last year to get into the DayZ mod, which has seen a helluva lot more play time by me. My main use of Arma since then has been more as a familiarization tool, first with sniper rifles and then with aircraft. There aren't too many games out there where you have to contend with bullet drop at the extreme distances that Arma/DayZ allow you to shoot at, so my first trip to Arma to was to its shooting range to get used to ranging and leading targets through my scope (I'd be hard pressed to find a more satisfying moment than popping a bandits skull in DayZ, while he's running from 950 yards. The second trip to Arma was precipitated by the first time I got to fly a helo in DayZ and crashed almost immediately. Being that I'm a huge flight sim fan I can safely say that a flight sim this is not. Yes, you have to deal with the physics of the craft, but flight sims tend have much better control and response. Once you get the hang of it, it's not too hard though. For me and my 'usually solo' online mentality when it comes to computers, Arma II just isn't really my game. I should like it, but something about it just doesn't feel right in the single player. I will definitely be checking out Arma III though. I suppose if I got into one of the clans and started doing the massive war sims that they do, it would more suit my tastes. However, since my biggest contributions to online communities are forum participation and bug/gameplay issue reporting if I'm part of a beta, I'll stick to the DayZ side of things. My DMR 'Justice' and I do just fine there by ourselves.

I'm waiting to pass judgment on this game until at least a few weeks after launch. First of all, the servers will be fixed and if not I'm sure someone will put a offline crack on the net somewhere in fairly short order (will probably get one even if the servers get fixed). The second thing I'm going to be waiting for is to see what the modding community is going to throw out there. As I've said in previous threads, if Maxis/EA don't release some sort of SDK in the foreseeable future, we can at least count on the internet to probably provide us with new maps (maybe even with things like city plot size tweaks. I'm a huge fan of the series, so I will probably pick this up, just not for about a month.
