That was alright. I got bored after the circumcision joke, which was funny btw. :D

Definitely work on presence and delivery...but I am sure you will. Stick with it.

Have you posted on any stand-up comedy community forums? Or have your own blog?

Both of those things will definitely help. Good luck.

I'm not on any stand-up forums, but I do have a blog.

I put my vids on it, links and occassionally write something. Hope you guys like it and check it out.

Your pretty good man, i rate you up there right next to my favorite katt williams

im not much of a comedy person to be quite honest, i just like playin b-ball

realistic44
Hahaha cool, cool. I'm a very different style (so far) than Kat Williams, but to be mentioned positively in the same sentence with a well known and respected stand-up is a great compliment. Thank you.

If you want to see some progress already, look at my user page and check out my very first stand-up. Man, the comments alone tell an ugly, ugly story. And thanks for submitting!

You've actually inspired me to an extent.

I've been thinking more and more lately that I should get into stand-up; its always been a dream of mine because I've always had a talent at making people laugh. You've inspired me because you've shown me that comedians have to start somewhere, and you've kinda relieved me of a lot of anxiety of trying to be perfect on the first try.

I'm jotting down some material but its hard for me to format it into a deliverable way so that I can reference old jokes in new jokes and vice versa.

Thanks for sharing it with us, it takes guts to get up there and especially to put it on the web.

Keep up the good work man!

You should definitely try your hand at stand-up. A lot of people think it's really easy to just get up on a stage and talk, but it's a lot harder and more challenging than just that. I'm definitely going to keep working at it and thank you for the compliment. I hope you have some fun writing and performing your stand-up too! Let us know how it goes.

Well after I saw this thread, I looked up the biggest comedy club in the area. (Dayton, Ohio woohoo?) And asked them about open mic night.

Tonight was an open mic night, and it started at 8pm. I was so excited, nervous, and fearful. I was debating whether or not I should wait till next week and regret not doing it tonight, or to stick it out tonight and take a chance.

Once I spoke with my best friend, he told me that I was funny and I know it and he got me inspired to go tonight. So I threw up, I went down there to sign up, and they didn't have an audience tonight. It was a test of faith going down there, and I know now that I have the balls to do it.

Now I just have to wait until this coming thursday. =P

I'll be sure to let you know how it goes.

I'm excited to see how it goes. Don't get worried and think that you have to have 30 minutes or even ten minutes of material. Just get on stage and give it your best. I've never vomited, but courage is a big part of it. And remember, even if you bomb, you had the nerve to go up there and try something new and different... and you can always go back again, and again, and again. Let me know how you fair either here or at my YouTube page. http://www.youtube.com/user/bsw5044

good jokes, however your showmanship leaves something to be desired. 8.5/10

LeGoofyGoober
Thanks for the compliments on the jokes. I want to work with comedy in any capacity so that is a good sign.

[QUOTE="EaglesPhan89"]

I only began doing stand-up a few months ago so I'm relatively new. I go to PSU and study communications/journalism and we all know how that's going to go. All the papers and whatnot are going under. I thought stand-up would be fun and if I keep working hard, I don't see why I can't get really good at it. After all, I'm only 20. I have lots of time to work on my material and act.

dodgerblue13

I'm going to PSU main for Journalism next year. Thanks for the hope, man.

Yeah no problem man. I'm always there for a fellow PSUer. I actually want to be a comedy writer, but the closest thing to writing comedy at PSU would be journalism. If you are really passionate about something then go for it. If you want to write for a newspaper then do it.

If I'm going to write for anything I would want it to be a humor magazine.

There are two type of comic in this world. Outrageous and Shy.

I can tell you are a Shy comedian but thats not a bad thing at all! Use it to your advantage! You should tend not to act out anything and you should always try to find a balance. Remember, with you it should be Delivery>Punch most of the time. Try to get into some Stand Up classes! I see real hope in you as a comedian! Keep it up man! :D

I need to find a comedy niche. I'm not sure if I should be quieter or louder or whatever, but I'll definitely find my way. Each gig is a learning experience. The last one I went to (last Thursday) ended up being real strange. It was an open mic where you needed to be 21 and older to attend or have a parent with you. So I went with both my parents not really knowing the place too well and I hate an awkward/funny/inappropriate set... but the best part was that this place turned out to be a gay bar. So not only is it awkward to perform in front of my parents and talk about racy subjects, but I accidentally brought them to a gay bar.
