i7 with a gtx 295 and 6 gb of ram, and i get just a slight bit of tearing in TQ and im just wondering is this most likely the monitor not refreshing fast enough, im sure this build could blow that games specs away but i think my monitor probably just isnt refreshing fast enough, that sound about right to some of you?

Really? Hm, thats good to know...it just isnt something im used too. See i havent built a new PC since about 01, so i been out of the loop with all the new tech. Now would that be something that can be curbed a bit with a monitor that refreshes even faster?[QUOTE="EdgeOfThorns316"]

You're just seeing the screen refreshing, it happens with some moniters on large areas of solid light colour, it's also more visible on larger moniters.

In theory yes, but most flat panel monitors only go up to 60 - 75 herts which may not make any difference.
Or i should say, would smaller most likely curb that issue or not be as noticable?[QUOTE="EdgeOfThorns316"]
This is a brand new build, i7 with a gtx 295....and im noticing like a flickering in the backround on "light" colors or lighter pages, like greys and whites...like a rolling, pulsing distortion that isnt noticable on some screens but noticable on others.
Ive got an Acer 22" LCD hooked up to this machine, and this is driving me nuts.
The fact that my card is running games solidly otherwise, should mean that this problem isnt my card...or could it still be?
Ive got vista 32 installed on here until my 64 version arrives hopefully today, but could this be conflicting somewhere by chance? What can cause LCDs to get that distortion?
Anyone have any idea where i could start, and drivers i got them all pretty much.zanelli

Update your drivers.blade55555Im pretty sure they are up to date unless theres some other driver im missing. I ran the crysis demo, and other games seem to be running....its just i cant load up 2 accounts, it makes no sense. And yea Wopps i have it windows, and like i said i dualed with a crappy p4 the other day...i dont see how my system is having issues.
Its a core i7 with a gtx 295 and 6gb of ram, but my vista 64 isnt here yet to reinstall so im running 32 currently.
Im just trying to dual box my 2 accounts, i can load an account...and it was weird because at first when i went to click the video settings everything froze up. Now, it seems maybe one account will fire up, but once i try to load my 2nd and its handshaking, it will lock up.
What could be the issue here?
I mean i was dualing on a p4, a pc that doesnt even compare to this...and im just not sure. I did fire up the crysis demo and it said i needed some driver, i got that to see crysis and i doubt thats the issue, but where could the problem be, anyone have any ideas?
In the PC world saying to wait is like chasing the wind, because once you wait for one particular item, people will be saying to wait for the next...ongoing cycle, if you always wait you never end up with anything.id wait. new 40nm coming out soon

I hear so many people talking about the GTX 285, i think thats a solid card that you really cant go wrong with and wont go wrong with for awhile, it would give you quite the substantial upgrade i think that is a bit shy of the top tier 295.
I personally bought a 295 and im waiting for it to get in, but i just havent bought a top high end card in so long i felt it was time lol so its probably an overkill move but im loookin for the long haul with it.
But that 285 was so going to be my choice pretty much, amazing card from all that ive read and seen.
