31 songs down, 9 to go

Yep, of course, I picked up Guitar Hero 2 today. Did you expect anything else? Guitar Hero is/was my favorite game on the ps2, so yeah.

I really enjoy the game, but damn, the track list is terrible. It doesn't even come close to the first game's track list for me. On the difficulty side of things: three thumbs up from me. It started off a bit slow, but as it got a bit farther I was having a blast (I love hard games). I'm currently going through on hard for my first run through, just to get to know the songs and so I can quick play them. I haven't failed any of them yet, or really even gotten close to that, but hard is my sweet spot for Guitar Hero games it seems. Challenging, but not over challenging to where it becomes more work than fun.

I plan on beating this game on expert like I did the first game, but when this will happen, who knows. I want to finish the game tonight, but I might let it rest until tomorrow because my hands and back (from standing maybe?) are killing me and it probably wouldn't be too smart to keep pressing on tonight....at least not for a couple of hours or something maybe, I dunno.

I'm on the 7th? bracket right now, and I played the Lamb of God song before shutting the game off because I wanted to see how that played from before I had even gotten the game. The vocals on the track suck, but the song was fun as hell to play.

A definite must own, I'll tell you that much. Go pick it up... now!

Gears tomorrow :)

Later.

Gears got a 9.6? Wasn't expecting that.

Ever since the first gameplay videos of Gears of War surfaced, I haven't expected the game to get over about an 8-8.5 max. I thought it was going to be another Brute Force meets Halo type deal where the game vastly underdelivers its hyping. Now, I still haven't played the game, so I myself my not like it (which is what counts), but still these review scores are usually a pretty good indicator on the quality of the game.

I already have the game preordered and payed in full, because I was going to get it anyway, but... have to wait until tomorrow to get it, like a lot of us... oh well.

I plan on picking up Guitar Hero II when I'm there, which is actually my most anticipated game right now OVER Gears of War. I just loved the first one to death, and I can't get enough of the demo I have for the second game.

The original Guitar Hero is my favorite PS2 game, but still not my favorite rhythm game of all time. "WHAT?!?!?" you might say. My favorite rhythm game is actually Parappa the Rapper. Is odd as that may sound, that game just totally stick its claws into me. It's not that the rhythm action of the game is the best there is around, but the characters, story, humor, levels, etc... is just SO memorable and so fleshed out, that I just love that game to death. I was going to try and pick up a copy on Amazon recently but the cheapest new copy was like 90 dollars. Ouch. I love the game, but not quite THAT much I'm afraid.

On a side note, I got my copy of Actraiser for SNES in the mail today from Amazon Marketplace, and I am very displeased. Does this look like "very good" quality to you?

Woohoo, I got an ex-rental. Joyous. It even says blockbuster on that shiny thing. I'm giving this person a 1/5 because that is just unacceptable if you're listing your item under "very good". I could see maybe "good" or "fair", but not "very good".

The joys of ordering online. This is the only thing I've received online that has been like this, but it still angers me. If I would've received my copy of Super Mario RPG or Chrono Trigger, and they looked like this, I probably would have went on a rampage.

Well, enough rambling on. Rock on (in Guitar Hero II), Shoot stuff up (in Gears of War), and have a great week.

Later.
