First impressions??pvtdonut54

Beautiful game. I love that they used all the voice actors (well, most of them) from the Batman: Animated Series. However, both of these things could be determined from the demo.

I love the atmosphere building that takes place in the beginning. Basically, touring Arkham as you escort the Joker down really gets you in the mood. The only reason I'm not playing constantly right now is that my thumb feels like it's getting a blister (from using a 360 controller) and I'm on the final leg of a work project that is due by tomorrow (and by 'final leg' I mean about 5 more hours worth).

Some of the achievements, though, are kind of interesting. Oh, and something that Charles_Dickens asked in another thread, I am finding that Hard mode definitely feels more tactical than normal mode. You REALLY have to be on the ball and pay attention in order to make it past the very first fight. I'm sure that, later on in the game, I'll be kicking myself for the decision to go straight up to Hard, but I'm hopeful (and hoping) that it'll be worth it.

He was offering, I figured I might as well call him on his potential (likely?) BSing.F1_2004

True enough...but fortunately, he's not BSing. About four hours ago, I, too, went into a Best Buy and bought the game. Granted, I was intending to buy a new keyboard, but they didn't have the one I was looking for. So I settled for Batman. :P Shoot, I even told the person at the front lanes that the release date wasn't supposed to be until tomorrow. She just shrugged and said "oh well". :?

[QUOTE="spiderman120988"]If you require proof, I can take a picture of the game disc.F1_2004
do it

Why? Best Buy has the game on store shelves 24 hours early.

As far as combat goes, it's a little like CoH. Rather than regenerating endurance by waiting, you have to regenerate energy by fighting. You have small, weak powers that build energy for the more powerful attacks.cd_rom

I would also like to add that, as opposed to City of Heroes/Villains, Champions doesn't require you to repeatedly press your basic attack button. Your basic energy building attack is set to a toggle (so let's say your energy builder is assigned to key 1: you press key 1 to enable the attack and that's all you have to do for the energy builder for the duration of the fight).

Also, you generate energy from different methods depending on what build you are in. Guardians gain energy from blocking attacks, Sentinels automatically generate it at an increased rate (in addition to blocking), Avengers only gain energy from their energy builders, etc... However, each build has different strengths/weaknesses.

And to go out and drink at the bar...Esoteric

Nah, there's a productive reason for this one: meet a drunk girl and pass along your genes...

:P

I'm wondering the same about a lot of great franchises EA has like Syndicate...pilouuuu2004

And Magic Carpet, Populous, Dungeon Keeper, System Shock 2, Wing Commander, and the entire Jane's catalogue. At least, those are the ones I'm worried about...in addition to Ultima.

Personally, I'd be contented with just a graphical overhaul of the Ultima games. Keep the story lines and core gameplay the same, but give it a graphics update (and please, for the love of all that is good and holy, do NOT convert it into a first-person game like Oblivion or Fallout 3).

Grrr...I went to my local Best Buy store to buy a new keyboard (mine burned out last night...the backlight just flickers and it won't get detected by my laptop), and I came out with Batman: AA. Well...at least I stuck to my $50 price limit (not including tax, mind you).

Judging from your avatar, I take it you're a Final Fantasy fan. I would also recommend standing by for Final Fantasy XIV. And I would not recommend checking out Aion (it just feels like an unrefined WoW and features that feel artificially restricted [flight]).
