Hello, I have been having a problem with my Source games for awhile. Games like Day of Defeat, Counter-Strike, Half-Life 2, Dark Messiah, and more. Seem to have an issue where I see white spots (or dots) in many areas. It is increasingly noticed when using something like the flashlight in Half-Life 2.

I cannot recall when these things started to happen, because usually I just forget about it and don't bother finding out why it is happening. After a few O/S reinstalls, full driver reinstalls, and so on... The issue still comes up. I have all of my latest drivers and I know it is not my hardware because at one point this never happened.

I have posted this on a few forums now, and would really appreciate any help anyone could give me.Rockin_MixMasta

AS they guys above said, white spots are a common overclocking and/or overheating video card issue. IF you are not overclocking, try using more fans to reduce the temps on your video card and in your case. Try running with teh case open to test.

Now I am really getting sick of people asking for game recommendations. Is there anyway we could make a thread with a list of all the games that typically show up in said lists, with all the different kinds of hardware that they require and whatnot and then Stickie it so these threads will end?

Yes, a gaming forum were we can't talk about games. Smart!

I'm partial to CoD UO. Runs like hell on my system with AA/AF. You can still find 20-30+ player servers full.

Doom 3 for sure. They made the game going for awesome graphics while HL2 also added their physics system and such which probably took away from the graphic power a little. Just my opinion.Squeek37

WTF. THere is no comparison. Doom3 is too shiney, strobey, calustraphobic, and does not even render outdoor areas. HL2 looks far superior. I could only play doom3 a few level because i was sick of running around tiny shiny rooms flashing with strobelights. Like some acid house from hell.

allright all you vista haters explain once and for all why you hate vista, think of the improvements Microsoft has made for vista,take that in mind when you write on this board. I challenge you!jbox1992

this guy is either 1) living in outer space, or 2) is not a true gamer with a good crosssection of games in his collection.

Second life should easily run maxed on your PC, and your video card is fine. Something is wrong, try to reinstall the game, and install updated audio and video drivers. Are you using onboard audio, or do you have a card for that? You need to initiate trouble shooting procedures-- SL is old and should run very very fast on your rig, fps wise-- perhaps there is lag on the SL servers, and yuo are talking this as graphics lag? Check the frame rates and report back.

[QUOTE="frizzyman0292"]Same Bio-Rifle i have major issuesXcelerate

Word. Not only is the bio-rifle hard to use and altogether less-lethal, it's a stupid idea and an embarassing weapon to use. What intern did they have cooking that one up, anyways? Bio-rifle. Sheesh.

*sigh* Like people have said UT is so well balanced every gun has a use (except the ar but its the weapon you spawn with) the bio rifle just has a steep learning curve but once you learn how to use it you can devastate in one shot easily. If you don't believe me watch this video it has many bio rifle shots. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1991174925013987900&q=unreal+tournament+2004

Agreed! Awesome game, awesome weapons.

On the other hand, the starting pistol in UT2k4 is very poor, especially since most good servers only let u have 1 grenade. You get to a weapon fast in UT2k4 or you die fast. What is the deal with multiplayer games starting you out with the weakest weapon? They FPS makers brought that over from single player, without thought... leads to nothing but spawn raping. Why not let the user select the default starting weapon? Think for godsakes.

The starting pistol in Quake 2 that shot the little sparklies. It looked, sounded and felt like a weapon only a twink would be happy with.

Rainbow 6 runs on the unreal 3 engine, I think double agent is pre unreal 3. Rainbox 6, i can say, runs well on my rig, below. I can play all options maxed, except for "very low" shadow detail (makes hardly a difference at my 1280x10xx resolution). I average about 38 fps, which works on this engine. The unreal 3 engine makes great use of dual cores, so you may have a hit on the CPU end, if you don't overclock a lot... I would guess your rig would play it fine at close to max settings, but very low shadow detail, at 1024 resolution, but struggle any higher resolution.
