I agree with lightwarrior totally. It should not have the numbered title because that declares that its a MAIN FF. It's not, its an MMO. There was little memorable to it, though it was somewhat addicting for awhile. I played it myself, though in retrospect, $12 a month wasn't worth it. I have no doubt in my mind that it will be another paid subscription. And what I find even more idiotic/moronic/retarded/whatever word you want, is that it's coming out at around the same time or possible BEFORE FFXIII. Usually I don't use internet talk too much but...WTF? I'm not impressed by anything about it yet, but I'll try and keep an open mind. However, it should be known I'm having a very difficult time even doing that.

On to actual good news, I'm waiting to get my hands on Dissidia, it looks even more awesome every time I read or see something new from it. I haven't heard any english voices yet, I've decided to surprise myself. Though I (hopefully) expect the same VA's for the FF characters that have been voiced in the past. I also can't wait for FFXIII. I saw a recent trailer showing a mix of CG and battles. I'm more and more impressed each time I see something new from it as well. I'd like a more indepth look at the battles but I like how each character gets their own summon. It's looking like a real epic, a real FF, reminding me of the sci fi of FFVII. Plus I noticed a little chocobo...please bring back the little bits of comedy and cuteness. It was sorely missing in FFXII. I hated the game but I feel more and more confident that XIII is on the right track. I feel SE has made several misses since FFX-2 so (besides Crisis Core) I hope they'll be back on track. Then again, with XIV I'm not so sure.  >_>

Heh~~~~?

whatever that could be...

kinetic-core

Just another DS RPG with Final Fantasy in it. Except its not a remake! Although it sounds similar to the beginning of the original FF. Except instead of the princess being kidnapped by a rogue knight, its a witch instead. Doesn't sound terribly original, especially the wide eyed boy with a sword riding a dragon. I may be biased though, I don't own a DS and don't plan on ever getting one.

I've been a member for quite awhile and posted in a few places but never properly introduced myself. I would have gone by just Exire, but some bastard stole my name who knows how long ago, so if I get to know anybody, calling me by that would be fine. I've been inactive on the boards for several months. After noticing how many have thousands of posts with high member levels and achievements I sort of...lost hope of having anything worthwhile of saying XD.

Anyway, big Final Fantasy fan, I've played all of them except FFIII because it was released on the DS *RAGE*. I'm not...very good at beating games though. I hit a lull, get bored, and go on to something else. It's a vicious, ugly pattern but I'm working on it. The latest victim? Tales of Vesperia because I can't get the side mission on this boss for the life of me. But, I'm not all Square Enix, gotta be honest. Shin Megami Tensei and Atlus make some pretty kickass RPG's too.

I'll stop before I start writing a mini novel haha. Anything beyond that, you'd just have to get to know me through experience. It's not very easy meeting friends on here, so hopefully I'll get to know some people.

I'm kind of pissed off that SE is doing the same thing so many FF fans hated before, continuing with making main FF titles MMO's. Granted, FFXI wasn't a bad game, I liked it a lot better than WoW, seemed to be a lot more accessible...and a lot less hateful haha. Still, I wish they could call it by a secondary name. It's moronic that FFXIV is coming out before FFXIII, or at least that's what I had heard.

But besides that, I hope they make the game a little more accessible for casual gamers. Granted, how casual can you be if your paying for it monthly? I liked the linkshells, plus I heard groups can move over from XI into XIV, but I don't remember the specifics. Something transfers over, but not people's characters. I also hated how everything was so teamwork based. That isn't even my issue though, it was...perhaps the 'society' of FFXI if you can call it that. I remember waiting for two plus hours, not doing anything, just waiting to find a party. Then I finally do and it falls apart after half an hour or something. Completely ridiculous and a waste of time. So I hope they either make it more playable for people who want to play on their own a bit, have it be 'easier' somehow to get into teams, or both.

Losing experience with dying also kind of pissed me off, especially since it took so blasted long to level up in the first place. The death penalty's could be less severe.

Gah, you FFVIII haters. Poo-poo to you! XD

I thought Squall and Rinoa had the best 'love relationship' in FF. I never bought it with any other FF title. It made sense and was much more meaningful in FFVIII since you can see Squall's personality slowly change over the course of the game. You see him slowly open up a little more and even mature a little bit. I thought it was nice that nearly everyone was young, at around 17. I thought more or less the characters acted like it, in more ways than one. But you see Squall slowly warm up to Rinoa, where in the beginning he's pretty cold to everyone. So by far, I felt FFVIII's was the best. The other FF attempts just made me urk.

But as the best of SE, definitely Fei and Elly in Xenogears. Its a shame so few have played it or are unaware of it. Kryu beat me, but she said it simply, which is how it is. Their love literally transcended time. I'm kind of glad fate isn't that powerful in real life. Or at least I hope it isn't.

SE is a very well established company, probably one of the most well known gaming companies, period. Final Fantasy is a gaming staple and no matter what anyone things, a much more well thought out stable of games than Madden. However, I thought SE has gotten deluded by various things recently. I think the originality of Final Fantasy has gotten worse since FFX. There have been nothing but sequels since then. Just when FFXIII was announced, they announced with it several games as part of a series from the original game. Not sequels entirely, but with it sharing the title, that's pretty much what they are.

If people buy the FF's that are crap, they'll keep making crap and then we'll be in a bad spot. Will SE or FF die? No. But the FF franchise went for around fifteen years of FF titles only being original, seperate games. That's changed and the name has been deluded with sequels and prequels. So if things don't change, I do honestly fear we'll lose what made FF so great in the first place. I believe its originality is slowly dying. Granted, the titles may have similarities, which is to be expected. But recently, it feels like SE isn't really trying.

Funny with FFTA. The first time I played it I hated it. But I gave it a second try and I didn't hate it that bad. Its a decent, solid SRPG, though in a way I felt they put it towards a younger audience. Your first 'battle' is a snowball fight, then you get transported into another world with reading a magical book. Not too hard to connect those dots. The sequel seems to be more of the same. Not to mention I don't have the money and invested in a PSP. FFTA was a fine game I thought, but I'm not interested enough in the sequel. As was said above, the PSP version of the original is working great for me.

Welcome Maj. I'm new too hehe.

And thanks Symon, its one of those series I've always been interested in but had a certain something holding me back. I just may add it to my birthday list and hope for the best haha. I like to dive away into other RPG's besides SE ones anyway. I liked them a ton better when it was Squaresoft. Not sure why...probably just because I think the 90's and early 2000's had some of the best RPG's ever. Xenogears is my favorite game. I like other non SE RPG's like Shadow Hearts though too. I'll definitely try to give .Hack a try though.

Well, I am a fan of FFVII. I liked the original, I have both AC and CC. But I do think FFVII was slightly overrated, especially with the crazy Sephiroth fanboys that are sneaking around with their masamunes every which way. That said I also think the fandom for Sephiroth has fanned the flames, blowing his villain trait way out of proportion. I thought he was kind of a weak main bad guy. More than anything else, it was the mythology behind him that made him a bit more frightening. I thought other FF bad guys did a better job than Sephiroth did, even ones like Kuja or Seymour. But, the fact remains is that Sephiroth looks and acts awesome. Not much is better than a sadistically psychotic bad guy with a bigass sword. So despite what I said, Sephiroth is still my favorite. Though to be honest, I like his character much more in CC than in the original.

Welcome Mike and Exire!!

Exire - couldn't help but notice your favourite FF was VIII - mine too! But shh, don't tell anyone - we've got some FFVIII haters out there - LOL, JK. Hope you enjoy yourself here! :)

SymonDezyn

Haha, it is true though. They're out there. Usually FFVII fanboys who have a name like "Sephiroth165738". I probably just offended someone who has a similar name too. XD Thanks for the welcomes. By the way Symon, is that a .Hack icon there? I thought I recognized the design. I've always had somewhat of an interest in the games but there's so many of them I've always been too intimidated to give it a try. Plus I've heard overall they really aren't that great. But hey, gamespot says Legend of Dragoon is mediocre, I call it a work of art...with some grammar issues. XD
