Some of them look totally the same with the regular one but with alot higher in attack pow and HP. Anyway, you can reconfirm and see if it is a rare monster or not by checking the monster clopedia.
Although there were alot more monters in FFXII, the design of the monsters were quite similar (just a little bit diffferent from these 80 rare monsters).  Check it out and you will be more excited in the coming of the FFXII US version.Â
FFIX's system are similar to those old school FF such as IV. However, i think it is worth to play because it has a good story line and playing it was alot of fun. You shouldn't miss it. They won't die that easy compare to the twins in IV, don't worry :)
I miss the old final fantasy. They are uniques and memorable. However, FFXII is a big step and a revolution in the FF series. It gives a new experience in which no other FF can compare. Although I'm an old school FF fans, I've gotta say SE have done a great success on FFXII. Anyway, FFXII did lack on some elements that old school FF fans look for, but I think with the current PS2's engine, SE did their best. Hopefully with the next gen console coming up, I bet FFXIII will definately give everyone on what they are missing and hoping for.Â
