First, download CPU-Z,(http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php) and under the SPD tab, find out how many RAM slots you have and what kind of RAM you have(DDR or DDR2). Then you need you find a reputable store that sells Laptop Memory. After you pruchase your RAM, you will need you pop open your laptop and remove your old memory if you want and pop your new moduals in. Doing so will void your warranty however.

2GB of RAM should be fine, even for Vista. What model of video card do you have?

Pretty much what blooddrunk said. You may have to enable your computer to boot from the CD Drive in the BIOS.

Vista Home Premium is your best bet. Basic is useless, Buisness won't give you anything you need, and although Ultimate has everything you need and more, it is way overpriced. Most issues with Vista have been ironed out but there are still driver optimization problems. Hopefully these will be fixed soon.

However, if your specs aren't up to snuff, (Core 2 Duo or Athlon x2 proc, 2GB RAM, 8600 GTS card or better) you are better off with XP until you make a hardware upgrade

EVGA is a very good brand and that card will power all those games at 60fps easy, save Crysis.

The reason many people didn't like the 8800GS (now known as the 9600GSO) is that their relatively low frame-buffer gimped them at higher resolutions. They're great cards for the price epecially at lower resolutions, and anyone who says otherwise needs to read a few more benchmarks.RayvinAzn

Pretty much this. ;)

Not for LSD.

Long term LSD has terrible effects. No argument, i've seen it happen to EVERYONE who i've seen use LSD long term. The thing with drugs is. Not to overuse them. Moderation is the key.

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!

You can always set up a dual boot so you can switch between Vista and XP. There is a decent guide here:
