Boxing Day stuff and a Happy B-lated New Years all.....

Well I've finally got all of the parts I needed to start my PC building. I would say I'm about half-way through the build. Been balancing that between work (two jobs I might add!), so haven't been able to dedicate as much time to it as some of you may think! But anyhow the remaining parts that I did purchase were (prices are before taxes) the Cooler Master V6GT heatsink ($59.99), Asus VG236H LCD 3D monitor with Nvidia 3D Vision kit included ($459.99 and included a $30 mail-in rebate), LG WH12LS38 Blu-Ray Rewriter ($79.50), OCZ Vertex 3 120GB SSD ($179.99 and included a $30 mail-in rebate), Western Digital Caviar Black Edition 500GB Hard Drive ($149.99), Vantec 58-In-1 Card Reader ($16.48), Razer DeathAdder gaming mice ($49.99), Logitech G110 gaming keyboard ($49.99), Logitech G35 headset ($79.99), Logitech Z906 5.1 surround sound speakers ($299.99) and finally the Cooler Master HAF X PC case ($179.99), along with some Cooler Master made 200mm Red (1) and Blue (2) LED fans ($15.99 each). I had original purchase the Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced PC case, however I was unable to fit the Gigabyte G1 Assassin mobo into that case. So I had to return it and ended up trading it for the HAF X. In regards to DVDs/Blu-Rays, I did pick up Family Guy Volume 8 DVD for $10 from Wal-Mart :D.

New PC hardware.....as well as more new stuff!

It's been WELL over a month since the last blog entry so I'll try to get straight to the point as much as possible. First on the PC hardware front, I upgraded my Triple SLI setup of 3x 8800GTXs to 3x 570GTXs (I got the Gigabyte Super Over Clocked 570GTXs). The total spent (which I won't fully disclose) was well over a 1k Cdn. But as expensive as it is, I'm sure they'll do me good for several years to come. In the meantime, I'm also in the process of retiring off another PC. So if you already haven't guessed it, I'm currently buy/shopping around for new parts/stuff. So far I've picked up the Gigabyte G1 Assassin (socket 1366) motherboard for $339.99 ($384.19 after taxes). Plus I get a $50 mail-in rebate for it :D and Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1850 TV Tuner for $119.99 ($135.59 after taxes) and a Cooler Master Silent Pro M 1000W PSU. I've also swapped out some components (including my 3x 8800GTXs which I will use in the new sys) from my other X58 based PC to be used in that upcoming build. As a result, I recently indirectly upgraded it from 12GB of memory to the max upgrade of 24GB of memory. The memory kits I purchased to replace the 12GBs of memory were 2x triple channel kits of the Corsair Vengeance 12GB for $69.99 each before taxes. I also earlier tonight just picked up an Intel i7 980 hexcore processor, which I also will be sooner or later swapping out with my other system's i7 920. This new replacement system will be my idea of a multimedia entertainment centre, as my OLD PC just served to be nothing more or less then a TV Tuner station. So my newer PC will not ONLY have a TV tuner, but also a Blu-Ray ROM drive and will be hooked up to a LCD 3D monitor (I plan to purchase the Asus VG236H which also comes with a nVidia 3D Vision kit).

Anyhow that's the PC hardware front for now. On the movies stuff, I recently this month picked up Cowboys & Aliens steelcase edition combo pack from Future Shop and Kung Fu Panda 2 Blu-Ray combo pack (non 3D version) and Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes combo pack from Wal-Mart. I also manage to get The Lord Of The Rings Extended Edition Trilogy set on Blu-Ray from Wal-Mart for ONLY $45 Cdn ($50.85 Cdn after taxes)! And there you have it, my past one month events! You'll probably be hearing more from me on Boxing Day or shortly after :S.

Another month...........of more new stuff :O

Well it's another month and as usual, I've gotten more new stuff :o! For new PC games, I've just recently picked up L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition $49.83 ($45.04 after my Wal-Mart employee appreciation week discount and taxes :)). I also this past Friday night got Bulletstorm and Street Fighter IV from Best Buy for $9.99 each ($22.58 total for both after taxes). In regards to new Blu-Ray movies, I got Battle: Los Angeles for $15 ($15.26 after employee discount and taxes), Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 Future Shop exclusive steelbook edition for $24.99 ($28.24 after taxes), Cars 2 Future Shop exclusive steelbook edition for $34.99 ($39.54 after taxes) and finally Captain America: The First Avenger for $29.93 ($36.33 aftter taxes). On an unrelated computers/movies side of things, I did purchase a new car battery (along with car battery memory saver) with one of my Wal-Mart employee appreciation week discounts. I ended up paying a total of $88.38 after I had traded back an old car battery I had lying around in my garage :D.

New Blu-Ray movies!

As the title says, I have recently picked up several new movies on Blu-Ray in the past month. And those movies are Transformers: Dark Of The Moon (Blu-Ray-DVD-Digital Copy combo pack), Fast Five (Blu-Ray-DVD-Digital Copy combo pack), The King's Speech, Priest, Green Lantern (Blu-Ray-DVD-Digital Copy combo pack) and finally just last night, Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (Blu-Ray 3D-Blu-Ray-DVD-Digital Copy combo pack). For PC games, I did pick up Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood for $19.83 Cdn ($20.17 Cdn after employee discount and taxes) and The Fallout 3 Game Of The Year Edition for $19.99 ($22.59 after taxes), dispite the fact I already own the original, albeit Collector's Edition. Since it's still in its original packaging, I figure I would not spoil it (it could be worth some $$$ one day :D). On a minor side note, if it matters to any of you who read my blogs, I've also been living on my own for the past month or more for that matter. As my parents went on vaca to Australia and Hong Kong and have been there since the middle of last month. They will be back this weekend. When you combine the fact that just a week before they left, I got another job as a Laptop Repair Technician and ontop of that have still been working at my PT job. Practically seven days a week for the last several weeks (excluding Thanksgiving Day here in Canada). So it's been quite an interesting past month to say the least.

Movies and a new GPU!

New blu-ray movies I recently picked up are X-men: First Class, Thor, Red Riding Hood and Due Date. I also picked up Spartacus: Gods Of The Arena on blu-ray. As for the new GPU I picked up, it's a Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 which I picked up from Canada Computers for $179.88 ($203.26 after taxes). Upon picking up the HD 6870, I learned that there was a promotion going on where the purchase of the said GPU got you a free Steam download of Deus Ex: Human Revolution :O! So as I result, I can now get a digital copy of Deus Ex: Human Revolution for free! Quite the surprise that was indeed. Anyhow I took a photo of the system which I equip with the HD 6870, which is now in Crossfire setup alongside the HD 6850 that I already previous installed.

Canadian National Exhibition and New PC upgrade!

Well it's that time of the year again and the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE for short) is here again! And besides your typical yearly vendors I come across often, none I look forward to checking more then the PC games liquidation vendors. Those buy 5 games for $20 :D. So far from the first opening day (which I visited) on August 19th, I've picked up the games Split/Second, Blood Bowl, Medieval II Total War Kingdoms, Braid, Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack The Ripper, Act Of War: High Treason, Glory Of The Roman Empire, Demigod and (if you want to call it) a extra copy of Fallout 2. I also purchased Majesty 2 as well, but more or less as a favour for a friend (he later paid me back). As for the Fallout 2 purchase, as I have never opened up my "original" boxed retail copy of it, I figured I'd keep it that way. May possibly make it more valuable? Well whatever the case, those so far are the games I've purchased from the CNE. Anyhow just almost a couple of weeks ago, I purchased a new mobo, along with a new CPU and memory to replace the 939 socket based mobo in one of my PCs. I did it mainly because neither Vista or Windows 7 would install on that PC, thanks in part to incompatible hard drive controllers! So I ended up purchaseing the an AM3 based socket board, the Gigabyte 890FXA-UD5, along with two 8GB G.Skill dual channel memory kits (G.Skill Ripjaws X PC3 12800) for a total of 16GB of memory and an AMD Phenom II X6 1100T CPU. Cost you ask? The mobo was $159.99 Cdn ($180.79 after taxes), each 8GB memory kit was $55.99 Cdn ($126.54 total for both after taxes) and the CPU was price matched at $184.99 Cdn ($209.04 after taxes). Anyhow I have included some pictures of the upgrade if it is of any interest. ENJOY! :D

Whole bunch of new stuff......

Well I've gotten more loot since the last month :?! To begin, today I received Metro 2033 for PC in the mail today. I had ordered that off of eBay for a total of $12.96 US (including shipping). I had also ordered and received from eBay Darksiders for PC for $13.49 US (including shipping), as well as several keysets for the SteelSeries Zboard which I have actually had for several years now (before the brand came under ownership of SteelSeries)! The keysets I purchased were for Starcraft 2, Battle For Middle Earth II, Medal of Honour: Pacific Assault and Age Of Empires III. However the AoE III and BFME II keysets had some slight damage on them when I received them, so I contact the seller on eBay and we are in the middle of working something out. So hopefully that turns out well. Especially since the BFME II keysets looks appealing, as it supports both the original and second game of the BFME series. In regards to movies, I also recent picked up Rango Blu-Ray combo pack for $19.99 Cdn from Future Shop ($22.59 after taxes) as well as Skyline on Blu-Ray for $9 Cdn from Wal-Mart ($9.15 after employee discount/taxes). And lastly speaking of Starcraft 2, I've completed the campaign portion of it....twice I might add......boy do I love that game :D. Let's just say I got sooo hooked at one point that I purchased (besides the Zboard keyset) a bunch of other Starcraft II products. Most notably the Razer Banshee Starcraft II Headsets for $99.99 ($112.99 after taxes) from Canada Computers. I also purchased the SteelSeries Tychus Findley Edition mousepad during that time period for $10.88 ($12.29 after taxes) from Canada Computers as well. But I do also have the Marines and Marauder Editions which I had purchased much earlier. Oh and speaking of headsets, I also got the Creative Fatal1ty Professional Series MKII Heatsets. Those costed me $53 Cdn ($59.89 after taxes).

New update finally......

Haven't updated this blog in a few months, but I'm going to make this as short as possible. In the past few months, I did pick up a Xbox 360 controller for Windows for $54.99 ($62.14 after taxes). In regards to games, I did pickup off of eBay The Witcher: Enchanced Platinum Edition (UK version of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition) for a total of $34.64 AU dollars (first time I've made a purchase that was in AU dollars). Also bought the Dragon Age II strategy guide for $9.99 ($11.29 after taxes). In regards to movies, I purchased Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 1 Future Shop exclusive steelcase edition, The Green Hornet Blu-Ray 3D combo pack and The Eagle on Blu-Ray. Anyways......that should be all so far that I did remember purchasing these past few months!

Tron: Legacy Collector's Edition and other stuff........

Yet another update on my recent purchases. Sometime middle of last month, I traded in another Call Of Duty: Black Ops for Xbox 360 which I had found from work for Dragon Age Origins: Awakening expansion pack and Bioshock 2 for PC. The total for those two games after the trade-in/refurb charges was $18.06. Towards the end of last month, I finally decided to get Crysis: Warhead from Wal-Mart for $18.83 ($19.15 after employee discount/taxes). And FINALLY yesterday evening, after much anticipation, I got Tron: Legacy Collector's Edition from Future Shop for $79.99 (total came to $84.74 after $5 Disney coupon discount and taxes) :D.
