Wish list

I'll be playing in an Easter play this weekend and the money I'll get should be enough to get a few more games.

Games I'm getting for sure:

Burnout 3: Takedown
Time Splitters: Future perfect

Other games in my wish list:

Tekken 5
Mortal Kombat: Deception
King of Fighters 2002/2003
King of Fighters: Maximum Impact

Also, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is coming out on the 31st and Midnight Club 3 is coming out in April so, I might get those games as well. Hopefully I'll have enough money to get all of those games.

Spring break updates 03/15/05

Last night was game night again.

In NFS: Hot Pursuit 2 I won every race as usual. I'm the master with the McLaren F1. Ditching cops is awesome!!!

In CvS2 my Guile-Bison-Blanka proved once again that charge characters rock (Guile and Bison especially - Sonic Hurricane and Psycho Crusher are awesome!). I didn't lose a single match, as usual.

Then, we played Soul Calibur 2. I haven't played it much so I don't know any strategies but I won most matches. Even though I lost some matches it was a lot of fun.

Lastly, we played DOA2: Hardcore. I'm not very familiar with this game either but I only lost a couple of matches. My Kasumi destroyed everybody most of the time.

Since this week is springbreak me and my friends will probably be playing every night. We'll probably play CFE and Tekken next time. Too bad fighting games for PS2 don't have online play.

Spring break...

Spring break... time to relax, catch up with schoolwork, and of course, play games! Last night, I played SF3s, CvS2 and NFS:HP2 wih my friends. I did very well as usual (no, I'm not a expert in fighting games, is just that my friends suck really bad), I only lost a couple of matches in Third Strike (I got to stop using characters I've never used before... or maybe not :. ). In CvS2, I proved to my friends once again that Guile is one of the best SF characters ever (*does Sonic Hurricane, finishes round with dramatic KO and watches his friends jaw drops* :P ). We didn't play CFE but we'll probably do so next time. Also, there are other great games we didn't play last night but we'll probably play sometime during spring break (SFA3, TekkenTT, Soul Calibur, DOA2, Time Splitters 2, etc).

???best fighting games of all time???

Last night I watching Filter in the G4tech TV channel and they were listing the best fighting games of all times. Fighting is my favorite genre and since I wasn't doing anything I thought "well, why not watch this show?" They didn't mention specific games but instead they listed game series. Here is their top10 fighting games:

1. Soul Calibur series
2. Super Smash Bros. Melee
3. Tekken series
4. Marvel vs Capcom series
5. Mortal Kombat series
6. Dead or Alive series
7. Capcom vs SNK series
8. Street Fighter series
9. Virtua Fighter series
10. Guilty Gear X2

After seeing that list I was like: WTF??? Virtua Fighter as #9? Street Fighter as #8? Super Smash Bros. as #2??? KOF series wasn't even mentioned. That list is simply ridiculous! I just couldn't believe I waisted 30 minutes of my life watching that. I'm no fighting game expert but I sure can tell that they had no idea what they're talking about when they made that so-called "best fighting games of all time."

KOF2002 updates 02/22/05

I played KOF2002 last night mainly with Terry. I finished Time attack levels 1-30 (didn't finish more levels because I had to study for a test). The time attack levels weren't very hard. For most of them I had a minute or more left by the time I defeated the last opponent. Every time you finish a time attack level you unlock something in the gallery (some silly but funny character sprite montages). I sent KOF02/03 back to GameFly today but I'll probably buy it very soon.

SF Third Strike updates 02/20/05

I played SF3S last night and I unlocked everything. I finished arcade mode with Makoto, Hugo, Q and Dudley, thus unlocking Gill. Then I finished arcade mode with Gill, thus unlocking Extra options. Although not the best character in terms of good special moves/combos, Gill might be considered top tier because his moves do a lot of damage (qcf 2x+K, OMFG!!! That's a hell lot of damage!). Anyways, now that I've unlocked everything in the game I'll spend more time trying to improve my skills, learn new combos, new strategies, etc.

CFE updates 02/20/05

I spent some time playing CFE last night and I finished arcade mode with all the SF2 and SF3 characters, thus unlocking their original soundtracks. I had finished arcade mode with all the Darkstalkers characters before so now I have to finish arcade mode with SFA and Red Earth Characters (plus Ingrid, Pyron and Shin Akuma). So far, the characters I really liked are Guile, Bison and Yun, probably because I know them from other games. I might change my opinion after I get more familiar with the other characters in the game.

I had a dream about game releases

Las night I had a dream about some game releases. In my dream I was surfing through the GameSpot pages and I read that SNK had confirmed the release of KOF98 and Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves in US. I also remember seeing something about the Nintendo Revolution being the first of the next-gen consoles to be released (no, I don't recall seeing a release date for that, unfortunately). I'm wondering if there is any meaning to that dream. I mean, I really don't care which next-gen console will be released first but being able to play KOF98 and Mark of the Wolves on my PS2 would be really cool.

What a great deal!!!

I got Capcom Fighting Evolution today. I bought it on Ebay, brand new game + brand new strategy guide for $18.00 (shipping included). That's was definitively a great deal. :D

KOF02/03 impressions

I played KOF02/03 for the first time yesterday. They're both great games but I guess I was expecting too much from them. The graphics are still dated (why didn't they rescan the sprites like in KOF94 Rebout?) the 3D backgrounds in KOF2003 are cool but they don't make up for the old character sprites. The soundtracks are pretty good but the sounds effects seem to be recycled from previous KOF games. The gameplay is good on both games, although they're quite different. I'm planning on buying KOF02/03 as soon as I can. Just the fact that we're getting two games for $39.99 is enough reason for buying this pack.
