Super Mario Galaxy is the best platformer to come out since the Mario 64

Banjo isnt even going to touch it.

Gh0st_Of_0nyx

Jees, that sort of stinks considering you entered a sort of time pardox- banjo 1 was better than Mario 64 overall.

That being said, wtf? Mario 64 blows Galaxy out of the water.

SMG isn't nearly as good as sheep make it out to be. That being said, i can't blame them for holding onto this idea- they have like no games coming out. just buy a 360! damn, buy a ps3 even!

Ummm accoriding to who If I may ask because rateing wise it certainly isnt.

Actuall, rating wise it technically is, and GS's scores = god's word, lol Ownage? (understand this is by your logic)

Super Mario 64 = 9.4

Banjo = 9.5

Banjo Tooie = 9.6

[QUOTE="fakecliche"]Won't happen. SMG > LBP > N&B. But N&B will still be great.fakecliche

Actually, LBP > SMG.

THat being said, Ive had more fun in the demo of N&Bs than in either of those games.

Nah. We're talking "platformers", not "most creative game", so SMG wins in the platforming department. Its gameplay mechanics are far more sound.

Not really. The gameplay mechanics in Banjo are sweet. Can't believe they nailed it down.

It's more creative, but it's also the better game.

I don't want to play around the words. it feels like what I've known as a platforming.

Mirror's Edge is a platformer, but I wouldn't compare it to SMG. That being said, SMG is comparable to banjo.

What's the overall hype for Banjo again?nervmeister

For me it's AAA, but I think it'll score AA at gamespot.

I've already played it for about 5 hours, so I already know what the games going to be like.

I think i might have the stance bioshockownz has on it right now. I said it right in the first post, it's going to blow smg and lbp away but score lower

i agree....the most fun i had with this demo was exploring showdown town....and i get the bad feeling that there won't be enough of this stuff in the game

too_much_eslim

wow what? did you climb to the top of LOG's game tower. If you do you will see.

Yea, showdown town is HUGE.

Heck, if you do the levitation thing and go to the far section (to the right of mumbo's motors on the rooftop with the blue? egg) youd see that what you were in while playing the demo is an insignificant portion of the map.

And btw, since you actually realized that you could climb up there (meaning your at least somwhat observant whether you found it yourself or bottles told you) did you notice the hills from spiral mountain and grunty's hat in the distance while on there? freaking epic. Hoping that we get to revisit a portion of grunty's castle again. That's a blank hope.

Also did you notice, to the opposite side, what appeared to be a castle awkwardly resembling the castle from SM64?

Can't recall. I just know there is a lot of landscape. I mean to the point there are things out at sea that are very far off. there are other things. i just dion't know how to describe them.

I'd imagine you're talking about that tanker ship way in the distance or that oil rig type thing?

yea, showdown town is highly detailed.

I spent like 2 minutes just staring at the world though. It is just so detailed and it feels like a banjo pixar world, but fleshed out.

they should intertwine a little, but not as a gameplay element.

Im thinking they should make it an unlockable weapon after you beat the game

Are you sure?

Wouldn't it have to have a fairly high percentage of platforming content to even qualify as a platformer, much less the best this generation will see?

Aren't we all pretty sure it won't get anywhere near that fairly high percentage?

jethrovegas

Well what would you consider it ?

An action game? no, not really.

RTS? building stuff =/= rts in any way

FPS? just because you shoot stuff at times doesn't mean it's a shooter

RPG? yea, at the beggiing you supposely get banjo's fitness up again, but that's not a rpg

Racer? no, halo has racing, so does gta. they';re not racers. heck, the original banjos had the same amount of racing as Banjo 3.

"Most of the time you spend playing this game will be at the helm of one of your custom built vehicles"

That's from the NZgamer review that was just posted in another thread.

I don't know exactly what I would consider it yet, but with that level of driving/vehicle creation content, I don't see how you could really consider it a platformer.

So it's so different and creative that it can't be properly ****fied into a single genre?

lol, that works.
Sort of the biggest compliment you can give it.

But anyway, i don't know how else to put it: Banjo: N&Bs is Rare N64 esque

There was a good amount of platforming to me.

playing soccer, shooting gruntbots, and toppling dominoes =/= platforming.

[QUOTE="Lionheart08"]LBP and MG will be hard to topple. Let's wait and see if it delivers first. :wink:nervmeister

LBP will reign supreme until next gen 8)

Somewhere on this forum, there is another poster who will say the exact same thing about Mario Galaxy.

They're all great in different ways

Mario = traditional

LBP = making levels (essentially)

Banjo = figuring out how to do stuff by challenges by building something for it

(lbp should implement challenges tht you have to do by creating a level, but osmething that works better than falling x feet, the x speed trophy is good, bring more of those)
