Are you sure?

Wouldn't it have to have a fairly high percentage of platforming content to even qualify as a platformer, much less the best this generation will see?

Aren't we all pretty sure it won't get anywhere near that fairly high percentage?

Shinobishyguy

There was a good amount of platforming to me.

playing soccer, shooting gruntbots, and toppling dominoes =/= platforming.

so what would you consider it?

Because if that's the case, banjo 1 and 2 weren't exactly platformers either. they built upon ideas of exploration and puzzle solving.

I know a platformer when I see one. platforming doesn't exactly mean jumping from platform to platform anymore, it never has. That being said, banjo actual has a fair amount of it in showdown town.

Well what would you consider it ?

An action game? no, not really.

RTS? building stuff =/= rts in any way

FPS? just because you shoot stuff at times doesn't mean it's a shooter

RPG? yea, at the beggiing you supposely get banjo's fitness up again, but that's not a rpg

Racer? no, halo has racing, so does gta. they';re not racers. heck, the original banjos had the same amount of racing as Banjo 3.

[QUOTE="Shinobishyguy"]And they only gave sound an 8? If there's was one aspect of the game that leaped out at me in the footage...it was the awesome music.too_much_eslim
Don't know what to say there. the music is quite good based on the demo.

Indeed.

Who cares though? It's just a review.

The music rocks.

Okay, so Im one of those people who thought that Rare has been sucking since MS acquired them. They still make good game but not to the quality of the n64 times. (view edit history for full version of intro)

Anyway, initially with Banjo I thought it was going to suck. I thought they were going to waste the franchise. Come yesterday and I played the demo. it's freaking awesome. If the demo is remotely like the rest of the game, it's a true return to the N64 days. Yes, the game is mostly about vehicles. That being said, there is a rather large amount of platforming (some of the access points were blocked off in the demo if you didnt use the floating thing). But anyway, I can't put it in any other way, this is Banjo-Threeie and it's what I'd expect from the n64 rare.
And to put down some people's worries, the demo has a lot of content and it's about 4 jiggies worth, and I didn't get the trophy tomas's at all. And considering this si the early levels, Id imagine the latter levels are a bit more complicated (or more so thought needing) so the game will last long. The demo itself takes several hours to complete

--- And to the hardcore Banjo fan. There's eggs hidden on rooftops and a key outline in the snow. Bottles has a message to for 6000notes...

(and hell, it's $40 and comes with Banjo 1)

And for the record, when I say it's going to be the best platformer, I mean it. I don't think it's going to score the highest though, just because. Could be AA. In reality it could be a 4.5 for all I care, the demo proved to me that rare is back.
