I'll finally be getting my Wii U next month and to be honest, there have been 2 major issues with the system, neither of which concern the gamepad:
1. The system costs more than the soon to be "last generation" consoles. This has been corrected to some extent, but I think they can go lower without it truly killing their business. After all, they will make more on software than hardware anyway and you can't do that if there isn't any hardware in the hands of consumers!
2. The lack of first party titles. First party titles are what have consistently sold new Nintendo hardware. The Wii is sort of an exception because people were looking for something different. Since that gap (casual gamers) has been filled, Nintendo should have realized this and had a handful of first party titles ready at launch. The N64 did. The SNES did. The NES did. The Gamecube only had Luigi's Mansion and while that IS a first party title, everyone expects to see a Super Mario game at the launch of any new Nintendo hardware. Not only did Nintendo fail to do this, they have allowed nearly a year to pass before releasing Pikmin 3 and we still don't have a Super Mario game on the system.
I don't know who was in charge of the launch lineup, but I would have fired someone long ago if there wasn't a new Mario game on the console at launch!
@Insolent007 Sony isn't just giving those games freely to PS3 owners. You have to have a Playstation Plus account which is similar to the subscription service for XBL. In essence, you are still paying a small amount for the game and you can only have access to it as long as you are an active Playstation Plus member. It's still a pretty good deal for owners of both systems.
I'm not even an rpg fan but with the sun soon to be setting on the PS3, I'll probably start buying more titles like this. I would say to those who don't agree with the score "you're right...and you should be YOUR OWN judge of the game" and not let someone else's subjective opinion make up your mind for you. It's a winner as far as I'm concerned.
@wicked_laugh Has anyone used the full 32GB yet anyway? I don't think the Wii U makes you install your games on the HDD like the PS3 and (the next gen consoles probably will also)
