So it is alright for atheists to generalize , but not for theists?:P:P:P

Have ANY of you guys been seeing where I have been going on with this yet? Did you even read my first post . I was being a complete tool. I was generalizing EVERYTHING. I posted stuff that would blatantly piss off a few atheists, and I even wrote things that make no sense :D. I made statements that were both ignorant AND idiotic, while at the same time condemning atheists for being idiotic.

Do I believe some of the stuff I posted? somewhat, but definitely not to that extent. All of this was to prove one thing. This is what it feels like to argue with some of you atheists. It feels like arguing to a brick wall. This is intolerance to the 10th degree, and this is the type of arguments that need to stop. Theists believe in God for a valid reason, and atheists disbelieve in God for a valid reason. WE all should just stop worrying about each others beliefs.

PS, I hope I didn't piss you off with this whole thing deejay. I value you're opinion greatly on this board. I was just expecting a few of the extreme atheists to comment, not someone like you, so sorry if I got you upset:).

Kuhu

I fail to see how atheism has anything to do with using fallacies to try proving a point..

Sounds to me like he is trying to use this as an excuse for his failing argument.

How can my argument fail if there was never anything to begin with. You can only fail, if you first actually try ;).

I edited my post, I meant to put atheists AND theists. Both tend to be equally at fault in most debates.

So I am not aloud to give my opinions, but atheists can go running around saying theists are stupid? Isn't that a double-standard. I am also not aloud to point out the flaws in atheism, but atheists can easily go around talking bad about religion? It is just hypocritical.

DeeJayInphinity

I didn't say you could not share your opinions. Did you read my entire post? I clearly asked you to keep going.
And you didn't point out any flaws in atheism--well, technically your little tidbit about our inability to disprove god affects only the atheists who claim to know that god does not exist (there aren't that many) but the rest of it is just generalizations rather than you making arguments against atheism.
Better luck next time.

PSS, normally I don't try to play the devils advocate, but the topic creater already said he was quitting this topic, so I decided , why the heck not:twisted:.

How is this statement being intolerant :|?

The first thing bolded would actually help society

The second one is my opinion, and there is actually a lot of proof if you look at many of the OT religious debates.

Third one bolded is actually a fact. Many atheists are just rebellious teenagers, that is just given. I know of many people who went through that atheist stage. It is a part of life to question you're beliefs.

Kuhu

What statement?
Sure thing.. I didn't say otherwise.
You are simply making generalizations about an entire population based on what you think you know. Personal experience does not say anything about facts. It just says something about what you think you experienced. You don't always know when you experience an atheist and when you experience a theist; that's why it's fallacious to reach a conclusion based on your experience on these forums. But keep on generalizing and talking crap about atheists based on generalizations. It says more about you than it says anything about atheists.

So I am not aloud to give my opinions, but atheists can go running around saying theists are stupid? Isn't that a double-standard. I am also not aloud to point out the flaws in atheism, but atheists can easily go around talking bad about religion? It is just hypocritical.

No we're making fun of you and picking on you because YOU are being hypocritical.

So I am not aloud to be hypocritical, while atheists are? See where I am going with this?

Sorry, but all I can do is laugh at you.

You are one funny guy.

Well, thanks . If I was able to help make some people laugh and save them from an early heart attack, then I have done my job:D.

Yes I agree with you, I just wish the blame wasn't put on Christianity. I just want the generalizations and all the ignorance to be left behind. Although, I do feel that Atheism is was more harmful than theism. Atleast theism teaches morals and love, which is why theists tend to be IN MY OPINION nicer than atheists. It seems as though a lot of the problems with the youth stem from atheism. which is why I dislike a lot of the atheists on this site because they are just rebellious teenagers wanting to be ant-conformist. When I am talking about rebellious teenagers, I am talking about the people who believe religion is stupid, that theists are less intelligent than atheists, and the people that think they KNOW that there is no God, even though there is no way of knowing.

My main gripe boils down to one thing.I hate ignorance and intolerence, which is why I tend to dislike many atheists.

Haha same here. It's funny how he hates generalizations and intolerance but his posts have been full of them.

NO, I fully expect them to attack us, which is why I attack back. We should ALL be exempt from insults, but that will never happen. And how does religion 'poisin the mind' when atheism doesnt?

DeeJayInphinity

Then .. ? You agree with me. All I've said is that you should expect people to return the favor. Nothing more, nothing less.
I never said that atheism does not poison the mind, but it is much less likely to do so since it contains no doctrine. It's simply a category.
Religion is easily malleable because it brings much more to the table. Anything within it can be twisted around to say different things--hence Hitler and the Holocaust, racism, slavery, sexism, and the conflicts in the middle east. Then, because people were indoctrinated at a young age, it becomes very hard to get that mindset out of them. Then, they indoctrinate their kids and we get a vicious cycle of intolerance, bigotry, hatred, etc.
Therefore I've reached the conclusion that religion can be very bad.
