My review of Muse's new album The Resistance.

I am usually indifferent when it comes to Muse, I really like Origin of Symmetry, and Absolution was ok. Their other stuff though is pretty average at best, they go for that very over the top sound these days instead of the good rocking sound from Origin of symmetry. On The Resistance though they channel Queen, a lot. Some parts sounded directly ripped from queen songs, which isn't bad but it doesn't really make Muse stand out. You know what to expect from Muse, ridiculous and over the top songs with cheesy bordering on silly lyrics, except in this case the lyrics are even cheesier than before especially on the first track. Its not a bad album, not at all. It does manage to bore me pretty quickly though with its overly similar sound. i think Muse are talented, but these days they just sound monotonous. Their last album managed to balence over the top with their old kind of sound vaguely well, but this one just goes over the top in a way that makes the album dull to listen too. I still think its a pretty good album though, and I know bands change over time so I wont say something stupid like Muse sold out, but they are starting to turn into Oasis with their predictable formula.

Overall I give it a 6 out of 10.

My review of Porcupine tree's new album The Incident.

Their last album Fear of a Blank planet was slightly underwhelming after the awesomeness that was In Absentia, and Deadwing. I loved it, but I didn't feel that it was as memorable aside from a few songs. The Incident however is a different story. I love this album more than any album I have heard in years. It has become my third favorite porcupine tree album after In Absentia, and Lightbulb Sun. The Incident is a double disk album with the first disk being the infamous 55 minute song. This is where the album had to shine instantly, if the first CD dragged at all it would be a failure overall. Fortunatley it works, most of the time. Some people have said the first CD sounds too scattered to be a single track.

The sound changes sound a bit random at times, and the flow is a bit odd but that to me is the charm of the album. Better than Green Carnation's Light of day day of darkness which was over an hour of mostly similar sounding metal with the occasional childern's choir thrown in for the hell of it. This however is different, the first cd works because of how different it all sounds. I would rather have a CD with lots of different sounds than a repetitive one. The first CD manages to be melodic, rocking, almost doom metal sounding at times, and all this mixed with porcupine tree's signature sound that borders on prog metal at times makes the first CD everything I had hoped it would be. The second CD is no different though it is not one continous track, it is just as good as the first CD. I highly recommend The Incident and I would say it is my favorite CD of the year next to Dear Hunter's new album, and destined solitare by Beardfish.

Overall I give it a 10 out of 10

Why is Zombieland so hyped?

I see ads for it a lot, people talk about it a lot. Whats the deal? It looks like a generic zombie film with 1 good actor and a bunch of medicore teens. Woody Harrelson is awesome, but the rest looks like crap.

The Godfather 2 game is not that bad.

Sure its nothing compared to the film, but I still had fun with it. Its not as good as GTA 4 and it feels a bit dated at times, but I think it deserves more than a 4.5 once you seperate yourself from thinking it should be as good as the movie.

My top 20 albums of all time ever!

Enjoy one and all:D

1. The Life Pursuit- Belle and Sebastian

This is the perfect pop albums, everything about it works. It is an album of blissful melancholy, a vageuly depressing collection of songs about hopes and shattered dreams in the least cliche way possible. I identify with this album personally because I love the lyrics and how they tell stories about more realistic people as apposed to the sugary sweet pop crap that tells lies of true love and happiness. Sure there is love, and there is occasional happiness but I love this album because it is about the good and bad of life and how it can be a bit crap at times. It is one of the few albums with nothing but good songs, I cant think of a single problem I had with this album.

2. Odessey and Oracle- Zombies

3. Wish you were here- Pink Floyd

4. Thick as a brick- Jethro Tull

One of my favorite concept albums ever.

5. Act 1: The Lake south, the river north, Act 2: The Meaning of and all things regarding Ms. Leading, Act 3: Life and Death- Dear Hunter

These three albums are all part of one single experience, one epic and awesome story that spans multiple genres. Shut up I make the rules:evil:

6. In Absentia- Porcupine Tree

7. Let Love In- Nick Cave and the bad seeds

One of the most depressing and beautiful albums I have heard. I was debating between this album, and The Boatman's Call but in the end I chose the more dreary one.

8. Disintegration- The Cure

I only got into this band recently, but I love this album this much already

9. Birds of fire- Mahavishnu Orchestra

10. Revolver- The Beatles

11. Rings Around The World- Super Furry Animals

12. Quadrophenia- The Who

13. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness- Smashing Pumpkins

14. The Holy Bible- Manic Street Preachers

15. Puressence- Puressence

16. Experiments in Mass Appeal- Frost

17. Circulatory System- Circulatory System

18. In the Court of the Crimson King- King Crimson

19. Six- Mansun

20. Lola versus powerman and the money go round part 1- The Kinks

Freedom tower is a stupid idea.

9/11 was a tragic day, but to build a giant tower in tribute? No offense to the vicitims of 9/11. but that is just a big waste of time. A memorial would be better, or something nice like a garden not another huge tower. If building freedom tower is important for some other reason fine, but to build it as a tribute it dumb. Also I dont think 9/11 should be declared a national holiday or day of some sort, what is the point of that? Some people dont want to remember that day and making it into a holiday will not do anything. End of rant.
