Why would a developer produce a multi-plat game that would require signifigant reconstruction to take in account Wii's obsolete hardware and wacky control scheme, especially when Wii consumers typically demand ancient franchises or various forms of "family-friendly" entertainment?

Wheee, all games should be multi-plat.  Down to hell with franchise monopolies and selling defective hardware through franchise labels alone.

For all you EQ nerds out there,

Wii -- FoamingPanda scowls at you, ready to attack.

Xbox360 -- Foamingpanda frowns at you apprehensively.

PS3 -- Foamingpanda scowls at you dubiously.

PS2 -- Foamingpanda views you indifferently.

GC -- Foamingpanda frowns at you apprehensively.

Xbox -- Foamingpanda views you indifferently.

Pre-Vista/DX10 PC -- Foamingpanda views you warmly.

Vista/DX10 PC -- Foaminpanda scowls at you, ready to attack.

Star Ocean 4...?  I thought Star Ocean Three was UNTIL THE END OF TIME?  Oh god, I feel a rant coming....

Agent Panda: Why, Mr. Star Ocean? Why do you do it? Why get up? Why keep developing? Do you believe you're programming for something? For more than profit? Can you tell me what it is? Do you even know? Is it a valid plot contingency? Or character development? Perhaps closure? Yes? No? Could it be for an abstract perspective? Illusions, Mr. Star Ocean. Vagaries of perception. The temporary constructs of a feeble developer's intellect trying desperately to justify a franchise label that is without meaning or purpose. And all of them as artificial as the franchise label itself, although only a developer's mind could invent something as insipid as Star Ocean 4. You must be able to see it, Mr. Star Ocean. You must know it by now. You can't provide a quality product. It's pointless to keep developing. Why, Mr. Star Ocean? WHY?  WHY DO YOU PERSIST?

I didn't find the movie scary at all.  It terrified my girl friend, who clung to me and screamed her head off during the film.  It gave her some bad dreams.

Seriously, the little things in the movie are level 4 ghouls!  I could kill one just by rolling my STR and basic blunt weapon skill!

...Kids these days, =/.

You're wanting to date someone who is eleven?  Don't do it!  The girl hasn't even hit puberty yet!  Govern your emotions and wait a few years yourself.  Jumping into relationships at a really young age can be extremely damaging and destructive.

It's really difficult to ensure the quality of a large and open-ended product.  I think the game might have some potential, and I am always glad to see new ideas entering the market... But, it will be difficult for the developer to pull off a quality game consider the depth and scope they have committed to in Two Worlds.  It might be the Gothic III of open-ended console RPG's.

We'll just have to see, won't we?

FF7 remake would be a waste of good resources. Why can't you leave good games to rest?
Koalakommander

Amen.

We need new ideas and new products.

Square needs to stop feeding us "neokyotopark" teenage angst garbage and provide us with a quality and innovative title.

That falls exactly into the same line of generalizations I was talking about. The thought that Wii is a good console for first party support only, at this point is laughable at best and mosly used, do to what? Nintendos past? StealthSting

Do to the fact that Nintendo has radically altered and changed the consumer base with the Wii.  Traditional customers have undergone a reordering of value to rationalize their faith in an obsolete console that functions against their interests and demands.  New consumers, we call them "casuals," demand radically different products that function from the premise that a video is little more than a childish toy only capable of providing the most basic and immediate forms of pleasure (aka, welcome to family friendly hell).

First, it's too early to asume anything and second the library of the consoles 3rd party is growing with new titles announced almost every single day. The name Sould Calibur arrives on the Wii? Well that somehow must be a bad thing...... Hell if Snatcher was annouced for the console tomorrow(Wich many fans would find themselves more excited then one of the top 3rd party games for PS3) it would still, somehow, be a bad thing. Note that its not confirmed for the Wii or to even come out yet, I'm only just using it as an example.

3rd party devs need not invest time into meaningful games and franchises when the consumer base of Wii will purchase just about anything that is aggressively marketed correctly, sold by an ancient franchise label alone, or chalk full of cutesy and gimmicy value.

Even if a third party dev had an idea for a Wii, the inferior and feeble hardware of the console make it virtually impossible to exploit the full graphical, physical, and qualatative depth of our current gen of consoles.

What exactly makes people think that a game such a No More Heroes will simply be this family-friendly junk, I could name a lot of other titles. What do I think? That this hole family-friendly junk is another one of those generalizations with absolutely baseless assumptions thrown at it, that hundreads of people on these boards use.

What makes people think that the presense of 1 valid game out of 20 justifies a purchase or even the existence of the console itself?

[QUOTE="FoamingPanda"]

I am so sick of these JRPG "look at this sexually ambigious, weak, young, and inexperienced protagonist running around in a true "neokyotopark" on a Sunday afternoon" FF settings.

PS3 can keep this tired and dead franchise, =/.

shungokustasu

You just need a hug. Seriously.

No, I need Square to devote its resources to the production of a meaningful new RPG structured around new ideas, avoiding the cliches of the past, and encorporating more adult and mature themes.
