Yes, it takes its name from Independant which refers to the labels the bands are on, but it refers to the DIY ethics of the band. It's reflected in the way the band tours, records and distributes their music but also in their sound.

That's totally wrong. Yes, being signed to an independant label is part of it, but there's so much more to Indie than that. It's an ethic that is reflected in a band's sound and approach to songwriting.
