What the hell game are you people playing? The car appears to pivot around a center axis as the car weightlessly flaps around on the track like a fish trying to swim on ice. The steering is awkwardly sensitive and goes from understeer to supergrip to oversteer with little rhyme or reason. It doesn't react or behave at all like you're expecting it to. Due to this it is impossible to drive properly. You'll overbrake, oversteer, understeer turn too much, too little, go too fast, too slow and constantly run into other cars as the game is so skittery. Something which is not discouraged btw. The game has a fancy damage system, but you can pretty much run into as many people as you like without repercussion.
So what bloody racing feel? Forza 2 does an infinitely better job. Worst physics ever.
I completely disagree. The physics are very apparent when you're on uneven parts of the track, you can really tell how the weight of the car you're throwing around is affecting your traction. Try powersliding through a turn as it drops down a few feet and you can feel your car skidding as its bouncing. It sounds and feels great. I really think you need to give the game more of a chance considering the way you're talking about. It sounds like you didn't even bother getting a feel for how the game is before totally writing it off.
"weightless flaps around on the track"? What the...? Did you even bother playing the Mustang GT race? Just the sound and feel of the cars bouncing around and thunking back down on the pavement is awesome.
I've driven around in the BMW for 30+ minutes and I still can't wrap my head around the ****ty alien physics. Turning the assists on makes it feel less freaking weird and more like a normal arcade racer, but it's still ****. With the assists off it's the dumbest thing I've ever experienced. And I'd like to add that I've played pretty much... a lot of racing games and I always get a feel for the game almost instantaneously.
I'm not the only one having issues with GRID's physics either. The problem isn't that we're not giving the game a chance or that we suck at it. Considering you for some odd reason think the handling is perfectly fine, I don't know what the problem is, but there is one.
I can OWN that track in the BMW and not wreck or wipe out at all. You have to break hard into turns. And gas out of them and powerslide your way out of them it's SICK when you master it.
