GM is dead......period.

Screw em, they should have built better cars, that's not our faukt and they should pay for that, not us!

Trying to save GM is beating a dead horse with a stick, there's nothing we can do.

if GM was liquidated we might have been driving new GM cars by now, and that wouldnt have required government at all.

How do you think UNion negotiations will go as GM moves forward?

Buck_Hotep

They don't have to go forward at all now. GM filing for bankruptcy finally gives them the legal right to fire all union workers and only hire workers on non unionised. It's a beautiful thing and should have happened billions of dollars ago.

I don't hate unions since they do protect employees, but the current union leadership just don't understand how business really works now. They try and browbeat companies for so many benefits that it prices the same companies either into bankruptcy (which means loss of jobs for their union members) or makes the companies lag far behind their foreign competitors who don't have to play by the same rules.

From what I've heard of NUMMA employees working on the Toyota side who are non-unions they love it there despite not being union.

Unions are fine and dandy just so long as they dont get government protection. There needs to be a balance, because most of the time these days unionization comes from the desire to get one over on your boss. Business owners should be able to fire anyone, and if need be, to fire the entire union. This may have disastrous effects on the business(if the union represented something GOOD), but at the same time it keeps the union in check. A lot of times, union pay raises come at the expense of others. It makes it harder for people to get employed, and those people who cant get hired by that company often end up working crappier jobs that pay less. Not to mention, if employees are getting paid more than what their work is worth, the prices of the goods/services go up which hurts poor people.
