[QUOTE="Fry60"]It would depend on whether they also like console style games. I doubt many PC gamers are going to pay $300+ to play FPS like Killzone or Resistance with a controller. The PC/PS3 makes a good combo for a gamer but I'm not sure about the PS3 being great for someone who specifically likes PC style games.Kashiwaba

Because all what PS3 got is Killzone and resistance or all what PC gamers play is FPS games ==.

Ok there is also Heavy Rain but it doesn't have many exclusives from the main genres the are traditional to PC. I would say I'm an example of someone who has little interest in console style games because I have only owned two consoles (PS1, 360 and Amiga 500 if that counts) in the 27 years I have been gaming. The genres that are more tradtional to PC are RPG, RTS, TBS, Simulation and Adventure. The PS3 has a whole slew of very shallow button bashers that I don't believe would appeal to your average PC gamer.

Does this mean they will finally make another Freespace?

Whiteblade999
That would be the best support they could give PC gamers. A new Freespace exclusive to PC would be just what I need to convince me to upgrade. I wouldn't even mind if it was multiplat but it would need to be designed for the PC and ported to consoles later for me to really want it. My faith in cross developed games has been shaked this gen when it comes to games that are traditionally PC series. That said, the Colony Wars series was great and it was console exclusive so maybe they could make a good cross platform Freespace.

For the type of game Bethesda makes they are very important but not so important I can't enjoy Morrowind more than Oblivion. For other types of games they can be even less important.

Simplicity is the main advantage. Buy a console and any game with the console brand name (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii) on the cover will play. No need to worry about incompatibilities or minimum requirements. I only game on PC when the game I want is not available on consoles. Given my gaming tastes this is often but less often this gen than other gens.

Ehh, I wouldn't bother replying to him. Usually if you see a comment like that ("blahblahblah play the developer's game blahblahblah I don't like building levels blahblahblah") you can tell that they're either trolling or they don't understand the purpose of a modificationBarbariser
The reason I won't bother to reply to him is because I believe we have reached an understanding. Most gamers probably don't care about mods. If they were making as many good games in some of the genres I miss playing as they are FPS, RTS and action adventure I might not bother with them myself. For example the last decent space sim was released in 2007 - in this senario you need mods to keep your games fresh because there are no new ones to play. Regardless I do agree with you that's it's hard to see them as a negative.

So in the end, you ask me? mods are over rated. play the game the developers made. easy.SaudiFury
The option to download mods is better than no option to download them. It's an extra option not a requirement. Personally some of my best gaming moments have been with mods and long standing online communities. Some are true labors of love that have taken many years and are much better than the "fast food style" profit driven content that is so common today. You also get content that would not be marketable and for someone who likes fringe and dead genres such as space sims and traditional adventure/RPG games user created content is invaluable to me. To each his own but choice is better than no choice.

So Dragon Age 2 is suppose to be the best at what the PC can do? I have seen better games on consoles(God of War 3, Killzone 3, U2). Not impressed:(Adamantium4k2
No. Dragon Age 2 is quite possibly the worst possible example of what the PC can do.

The ironic part is Dragon Age 2 is actually hopelessly behind Bioware's NWN despite having better graphics. NWN has everything the makes the PC a more fully featured platform. Free deticated servers capable of handling 100 players, user created persistant worlds, a huge mod cummunity, more strategic gameplay and controls more suited to a PC game. Dragon Age 2 is a step backwards in every way except graphics and even they aren't impressive by PC standards.
