I think this is a great idea. So often I have no way of telling if a game is worthwhile or not. I bet a lot fewer titles would sell if they actually offered demos. Sony should go one step further and require that all games feature a demo. That would really motivate game developers to consider what they're making more carefully. If they can't be proud of it, why should I buy it?! Two games off the top of my head that I bought based on their wonderfully deep demos are Total Annihilation (back in better days) and more recently, Patapon 2.
Complete waste. I'm so tired of seeing games designed to be short. I find it telltale that the length of FF7 is what bothers them. Game makers want to tie gamers to a game purchase every few months. Which is a huge reason why titles are so uninteresting these days. Square should concentrate on making a new tactics that isn't for little school kids. I haven't touched any of the tactics sequels because really - I find them too juvenile. We have amazing technology in the PS3, what a great opportunity to make a bigger, more complex job system. Maybe some persistent world concepts or episodic storyline that you can play with your party. Let's see some amazing character development and really intricate rules systems. Push the bar a little instead of making playable cut-scenes. At the very least, can the remakes already.
