You could try systemrequirementslab.com. They have a tool that lets you pick a game and it tells you whether the components you have are able to run a game and run them well.

EDIT: Here's the link.

no, however some places require you to buy the cooler at the same time as the cpu purchasedmb34

How often does Newegg get OEM CPUs? I wanted an AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition but they only had the 940.

And...Would I be safe using a Xigmatek Dark Knight as the CPU Cooler when I do finally learn to to OC a CPU?

Okay, so I was debating between the OEM version of a CPU and the Retail. So the OEM only comes with the CPU and not the stocker cooler, but if I was already getting another CPU cooler, would I need the stock cooler?

Sorry to ask, I just wanted to know if I could save some cash.

Sorry about this question, I'm sure it's been answered before but...

What's the difference between the OEM version and Retail version of Windows 7? I googled it and didn't really understand what it meant. :/

So...can anyone break it down into layman's terms? Something that an average computer user like me can understand? If it helps any, I want to build a rig and don't know if I want the OEM or Retail version of Windows 7.

Thanks.

I see what it was now. I used the ASUS DVD Drive instead of the Lite-on. Thanks, lol.

So, I'm guessing by all the feedback I'm getting that this is as good as it'll get for $1500?

Lol, no problem at all. Yes, the 5870 does fit in the Lexa S, as well as another if you do choose to add a second. The source can be found here.

Thanks, added in your reccomendations. However my total was different...Kinda weird.

I'd like some second opinions if it's okay. And so the HDDs say bare drives...does that mean I have to buy the wires for em? If so, does newegg sellem?

Here, changed around some stuff:

- Get the Lexa S instead. It won't have as a good airflow as the Solano, but it will not run into any problems with tall heatsink due to the smaller side fan (the Dark Knight is a large cooler).

- Change your monitor to this Acer one. Although this is a cost-cutting measure, you're only losing out on .6" of screen space while keeping the same features, which isn't all that much of a loss, imo.

- Get this Microsoft keyboard instead. Another cost cut, but still very reliable.

- Combo your memory with this 5870. It's a better performer compared to the 5850, and since it fits in your budget, why not? :P

- Get the X4 955 instead. It's really the same as the X4 965, except below one multiplier (easily remedied). Here's a combo for you to enjoy. You get a free game with it too :D

If you've done all those changes, your total should come to 1499.48 with shipping.

Sorry to ask a total pro like yourself something like this, but that tower will fit the 5870 right? And more than likely another down the road? I just liked the sound of a 'Full' tower over a 'mid' one, lol.

ASUS M4A78T-E this may be the best bang for the buck if you want crossfire support and ddr3. Your motherboard and case will come with everything you need as far as screws and crossfire bridge is concerned.freesafety13

So, if the item says bare drive, then it just comes with the drive alone and I'd have to buy the wiring seperately?

And is there any difference other than the price between the open-box and the other one?
