I put together a computer I think would be better suited for your needs, with a more powerful CPU + cooler and savings on some less important parts. Ended up a bit cheaper even but this would be better up for your requirements.spittisI was under the impression that i7 2600K required a P67 mobo for overclocking while the Z68 is for i5/i72500/2600 that utilized the integrated GPU. Is that right?

There are also drivers that will allow you to use a PS3 controller on your PC if your prefer that.
I'm a game development student (third year), and I've found myself being held back in both gaming and production by my laptop. I've never built a PC before, but I desperately need to upgrade (and supplement my laptop) to something that won't melt when simultaneously running Maya, 3DSMAX, UDK, Visual Studio, GECK, etc hopefully without slowing down and/or dying.
I've assembled what I think will work, but this is entirely new to me and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm most concerned about the motherboard, ram, and cooling at this point.
Again, any help is greatly appreciated!
As a Game Design and Development major, I have some insight into this...
From the developer's viewpoint (NOT the publisher), we want as many people as possible to play and enjoy our game but we also have to feed our families.
All of us should really consider the cost associated with development. Keep in mind that developer's only get a fraction of each *new* game sold. If things like online passes to access multiplayer or trophy support end up with the developer earning more return on the game they produced then by all means make it happen.
The problem is what percentage of this extra costs associated with used game sales goes to the publisher vs. the developer.
I'm all for it as long as the developer get's the lionshare, but I'm not going to support it if the publisher takes more than 50% of the "secondary" profit.
The linux zealots got in this thread pretty quickly.
I could not live without it and my purchase in console is determined by which platform will support the most pre-order DLC for me not to buy.
Release the full SDK with no dumbing down with the API and put a $50 tag on it if you're worried about time loss.
Profit for them and fun for people like me.
Lol, that Classic Controller is the exact same thing as the PS3 controller. CONSPIRACY!!! :P (No, not really, the triggers are better and the formation of the controller is different)[QUOTE="StrongDeadlift"]
I love when people say Sony always copies, but ignores the fact that Microsoft and Nintendo both redid their controllers not once, but twice to make them almost exactly like the Dualshock.
I will say that the DS3 is a downgrade in quality, and needs to be improved, and that the 360 controller is better, but at the end of the day, it is just a more refined Dualshock 3. Next gen the Dualshock 4 will most likely perfect everything wrong with the DS3, and finally shut people the hell up about it. The way people talk about the damn thing you would think its the friggin N64 controller or something.

You know those 4 buttons on the right side of your controller? Sony, Microsoft AND Nintendo copied Sega. :P
1. The classic controller is just Nintendo's long overdue update to the SNES controller and not a copy of the PS3 controller.2. Correct me if I'm wrong but the only Sega controller with only 4 buttons I remember was the Dreamcast. I know the Genesis had a 3 and then 6 button controller.
3. Microsoft's controller is obviously inspired by the Dreamcast controller and it always has been.
