If anything this is most closely related to the PS1 and N64... the 360 is ps1, and the n64 is the ps3. People will always say "Well this is just like... and thats just like when" The industries changed, no its not like that... you cant compare something from 15 years ago to something today simply because the markets different, the people are different, the strategies are different, even what we consider a game console is different with new things like movies and tv shows for download....A lot of people compare this generation to last generation or the one before that, but in actuality its more like the 16 bit generation. 360=Genesis, PS3=SNES. Think about it. Also, if you're going to compare the last generation to this generation, read this:

SERIOUSLY! Read it, it's from OCT2000 and yet it is frightingly familiar

[QUOTE="Creeping_Wolf"]Hey, it's another "Let's all slam Capcom because they're doing something I don't like" threads......... Haven't seen one of those in a while.alkaline_DnBlol. it's just funny that nobody said anything before. not until the whole DMC crysis...playstation fans revolting cracks me up. they didn't seem to mind getting RE4 from the gamecube. but take away one of their games and poop hits the fan. my favorite response on this board is "DMC wasnt even good in the first place" or "We dont need it!" Then its followed by a "lets not buy capcom" thread
[QUOTE="gamer082009"]wow your so WRONG its unbelivable.... you clearly need to learn the facts before you post ;) It has been stated that developers find the PS3 easier to make games for than xbox360 Try again bud, The cell architechture is more difficult to program for, plain and simple. What John Carmack says is fact... its like if a ninja turtle told you "this Pizza is horrible" would you disagree? NoI think Sony doesn't have what it takes as they did with the PS2. I don't think people are bashing the PS3 because it's "the popular thing to do". I honestly think they made some mistakes that people are voicing, so come out of the state of denial.
1. Sony DIDN'T make a developer friendly console (Developers are having a hard time developing for the system) No it's not the developers fault, it's Sony's fault for being stuborn and expecting the developers to figure it out weather they like it or not. That's not a good strategy if you want people to develop for your system successfully. (You as the gamer/customer lose out)
2. Sony DOESN"T have a successfull online service (That's what you get when you expect things to be for free)
3. Sony's price is just OUTRAGEOUS (Most people don't have HDTV's let alone able to spend $600 on a video game console, most HDTV's are around the same price as a friggin PS3)
4. Sony should've gave their customers realistic options when choosing a system (Microsoft let it's customers CHOOSE weather they wanted to have the HD DVD player or not to help keep the price down, besides stuffing new and UNNECESSARY technology down their throats)
5. Most of the PS3's technology will go UNUSED because it's difficult to develop for and it'll INCREASE development time and cost. (Most titles that will take advantage of the PS3's capability will be 1st party titles)
6. Most PS3 games just aren't up to par with the Xbox 360 because Microsoft has a powerfull "developer friendly console". (Which saves TIME and MONEY and has also been praised by MANY developers)
To sum it all up these are my opinions and I'm no fanboy of the 360 although I love the way Microsoft has been going about things, I just hate to see such a strong company like Sony who helped build the gaming industry drop the ball. I still stand firm that Microsoft and Nintendo will pull out victorious especially after a 360 price drop. Hopefully Sony will drop their price at the right time to help savor what's left of a failing system.

Microsoft has tremendous power owning a defacto monopoly in the computer field.
I honestly doubt the world would be better off giving them 2 monpolies.
That's my viewpoint and its pretty defensible as most people don't think giving "supreme power" to any corporation is a good thing.
**** What's your standpoint? Do you love Microsoft so much? Do you think corporations deserve so much power?
Comparing Communism to the world's most powerful computer corporation is not a fair comparison.

No sir. This wasn't my question. I have provided you a direct reason why I don't particularly want Microsoft to become more powerful due to concerns of abuse of power.
You sir... You have typed several walls of text defending what should be a souless meaningless corporation to you.
*** I don't think you would defend Pfizer drug company with similar zeal although you scare me by defending Haliburton
Why the pro Microsoft slant? I get the feeling it is "NOT" because you love dead or alive bouncing females... You are too mature for that.
Your brother works there or something? The reason is what?
Reason I am "pro" microsoft, not to mean I hate sony, is because as a consumer I have had a good history with them and their products. They arent a meaningless company to me either. They given me the tools to help me get into game design which in other cases would have cost me several thousand dollars. They provided my school with technology that meets todays standards... their business actions of a few years ago did not affect me, or the kid next to me... I dont run around wearing MSFT t-shirts (although theres a Xbox hoodie thats kinda cool), I just support the company that has more or less supported me in the passed few years by getting me on my feet in game design. *Note, i dont support haliburton... no bid contracts are bad.... my rant went too far lol*Okay... That at least I can wrap my head around. There is a reason for your loyalty which I can understand.
That being said... You agree that if say Pfizer owned a defacto monopoly and decided to price aspirin at $25 / pill...
Or if all the oil reserves dry up and ONLY one country controls it all in Saudi Arabia sending oil to $25 / gallon...
You agree in principle that a single monopoly controlling it all can be a DANGEROUS thing?
I don't particularly think Microsoft has learned it lessons though. That is my opinion. Donations are easy when you have billions in the bank. Their treatment of Linux didn't make me happy at all. I didn't like how they hired SCO to sue the heck out of Open Source Linux.
agreed a monopoly could result in a horrible outcome, and when someone uses their business strength to attempt to control those who do not want to be a consumer... such as a drug company it is bad. What i mean by this is, if Pfizer was the only asprin maker in the US, and charged that much... it wouldnt matter whether or not I wanted to buy from them, since when i need their product i litterally NEED their product. Same with oil companies... we are dependent on oils and medication... we cannot continue our everyday lifes without them anymore (not their fault) but its their responsibility to understand that, and provide a service that accompanies that need. MS does not over charge for their services, they dont fall into a "must need" product. IDK if that makes much sense... its late and im working on a character for a game...which is making me increasingly crazy...Ahhh yes... Character design. It's nice to be a designer until the deadlines come...
Just release the stress and creative juice shall flow! (A chemical process and the only way to fly)
I thought about debating further but I think it would not be productive particularly since you are slaving away at character design and I am chained to a desk cutting domain modeled code in Java. Developer and Designer. Debates are natural between us.
:-D

It has the mini games and Zelda, thats all Nintendo told us it would have for the most part. That and its really cheap and old people love it... if old people love it, it must be good (except for Diet Rite.. idk why they like that stuff). Everyone rags on the PS3's game selection, but there is a system with an even worse one that gets no mention. The Wii. what does it have thats so great? I think people just want to bag on the PS3 because sony is the top dog. They just want to see them fall for what ever reason. We call people like that Haters. So stop sippin on the haterade, and let the PS3 be. it will be fine.
mazdero
see, you could make the same exact arguement for the PS3. did you expect 100 games out for it in its first 5 months? it has the amount of games that are to be expected from a system that just launched. People just think its the cool thing to do right now to bash Sony. We are 5 months into a console that will see at least 6 years of life. There is no reason for all this talk about "the PS3 is dead", it just started living.
Good point, but the the way sony presented the PS3 at all the events made it seem like it was going to be the "be all" console at launch. They showed amazing "realtime" graphics a year in advance... which to some people means "well if they have that already... i cant wait for launch!!"
