ah ha....ha.....hahahahahaha All the forums in the world just went from "OMG 1 minutes left!!!" "5" "4" "3" "2" "1" ".......WTF......." Seriously... not even MS employees bother with windows mobile phones. Then again.... nobody bothers with mobile web surfing.... The psp showed up that. So, let me get this straight... MS thinks people with cell phones care more about surfing the internet than gamers do... thats why theres no 360 web browser. Quick question for everyone.... The last time you were on your phone, talking to someone did you think "Dang, i wish i could check kotaku real quick for gaming updates!!!" Or! was it the last time you were on your 360 you said "Dang, i wish i could check up on cheat codes for this game real quick." Theres not a whole lot of thinking going on over that campus is there? First "Oh, you guys dont want built in wifi to a 479 dollar machine" followed by "Oh, browse the web on your 2 inch screen!!!.... they dont need in on their 360s!!!" ....a few words for channel10: you lose.... continue?

People talk about the trophy system, which is nice and all, but it requires the trophy owner to be online and to invite you to his home to view them.

UntoldDreams

This is the only thing I think you missed. The trophies will not be viewed from the persons "home", but rather in that gigantic trophy hall that can be accessed at any time. (at least thats the way I understood it) I agree completely with the rest of your posts. My opinion on the whole thing, Sony just needs to finish the firmware to allow xmb functionality while in game/movie. I remembered seeing a demonstration on IGN before the launch even took place where they showed an example of this, so I'm kind of curious as to why that feature hasn't been initialized yet.

Yea, but the person with those trophies has to be online to show you it... which kinda ruins the point in my opinion More or less, it comes down to the you get what you pay for. XBL you get more small features than make playing online efficient and...awesome On PSn you get the basics of more or less a PC multiplayer experience

We'll see how many of those PC users will fork over money for XBL on PC gaming...

Live on PC is free... unless you want cross platform play actually...

XBL has: Unified Friends List Video chat Unified Messaging service TONS of demos Virtually no lag Headsets are more common than no headsets Clan support in a lot of games Video MarketPlace in the US and other regions later Achievments in every game Gamescore Xbox.com functionality Tru Skill match making in all games Ability to request or avoid players Reputation Tons of game videos and or movie features (usually 5 a week) Faster Loading time in the marketplace 50! dollars a year.... not 70 Ps3 has: Free online play Less than unified friends list no cross game messaging...but messaging Headsets are less common that no headsets Sony backing of the video area, but limited to 3rd party Some demos (more to come as time goes on) ...1 game with 40 players does not mean the service is capable of more.... but yea, theres Resistance Home will have a kind of achievment system A PSgamercard thingy PSP download service An arcade like feature with fairly decent games Video Chat The PS3 online service is more or less the basic PC service we have all had for years, while XBL takes the "Man, i wish i could" PC service and gives you what you wished for. To say PS3 wins because its free is a blindfolded fanboy statement as you get significantly less functionality than you do with XBL.

Does Splinter Cell: DA support mics online?

Deihmos
Isn't it sad that every PS3 game one has to wonder if it will support mics or not and sometimes if it even supports online? Shouldn't it be standard like Xbox live?

Should be, but then again... you guys dont pay for it. the standards on XBL are a result of the pricetag
