Firstly, Good FRESH Topic, I was meaning to start the exact same one, but out of whole career on GS, I only started two or three posts, so I never got to it. It ended up slipping my mind and I'm glad you brought it up.

Secondly, Look at my PS2 list. I bought these games based on Gamespot and other major gamin g websites. I'm not the kind to waste money on something I don't know, and Inever rent (I can find better use for that money). Now if you look at my Dreamcast list (My gameboy colour list surprisingly has great reviews, but I never used to go on Gamespot when I wanted to buy a GBC games). You can see that some games are rated poor (for good reason).. However, if theres one thing that makes me contradict the way I buy a game is this: I LOVED SOnic Shuffle for the Dreamcast, but it was given a 5.4 (or 5.6) score...Maybe its because as a kid my standards for gaming was real low (The Dreamcast was my first, so the fact that I owned one was enough for me).

Lastly, I am REALLY satisfied with my PS2 list, everything I own is something I personally do not hate. Great great games.

Truthfully, one of THE BEST single players out there is Dark Cloud 2. Im not and RPG fan, but this game was simply beautiful and ORIGINAL. lasts about 60 hours and then some (im not kidding). U may not find it, but try it on ebay, or look around stores like Flea Markets. Its about $7 now, but its worth a LOT more.

Hey, I saw this forum before on Gamespot, so Im going to copy n paste the list I gave that person:

Smackdown vs Raw 2006 (good online or offline)

Smackdown vs Raw 2007

Smackdown Here Comes The Pain

Ratchet Deadlocked (Two player Co op story)

Ratchet Up Your Arsenal (Offline Competitive/Co Op, but you need multitap for up to 4 people, or online for Co-op or competive for up to 8 players)

Some game thats titled something like "Baldurs Alliance" or something, I cant remember, but it is a co-op as well

Nhl 2k5 (Its an old game, but 2k5, and past is real fun)

Ea's Nhl games (2004 is probably the best one)

NBA Street Volume games are real fun (I prefer Street VOl. 2 but thats my bias)

Basically any sports games

If you have online, choose Burnout (I like 3, but again, my bias, or Revenge is fun too) Offline you can play party crash, which can be  co-op or competitive. Online on Burnout 3 and Revenge is alot more fun though

GTA: San Andreas has a two player, though its not the best multiplayer Co Op out there

Tekken Tag Team, if you can find that game

Ratchet And Clank Deadlocked (offline/online)

And thats about all I can remember, so check them out cuz i took along time writing this out lol

As for IGN, this has got to be one of the few reviews that they've gone hard on. They are too nice when giving ratings. That is why I trust gamespot, then IGN

Do you guys really expect games made from tv shows to get a 8 or higher? Come on, game producers will do a half butt job and expect sales to ride on all the hype around the movie.

DC2 was the first game i bought for $70!! Its a great game, and ive heard people call it the Zelda Killer. Too bad they didnt make more. Trust me, once u get past the sewer level, you'll be taken into a beutiful masterpiece. The music is sooooooooooo beautifully smoothing, and the graphics are beautiful. If i could, i would cry when i wud play this game...well maybe i wuddint go that far, but its an amazing game. there are many games out there that are way more than $9 that dont even deserve to be a video game at all.

Im pretty sure u havent played all these games, so I dont know why your judging them like you have (not trying to be a jerk, but your being a bit bias, no offence). On the other hand I think IGN rates games TOO lightly, they over rate a lot of games. Like, they sometimes rate games 2 days before the actual game comes out, but when you see Gamespot, they sometimes wait a week after a game is out to review it. Maybe GS doesnt get their games earlier than IGN does, but Gamespot seems to be more strict in ratings.

I too have to say Metal Gear Solid 3- I just couldnt get into it- the cutscenes (although nice) were too long, the way Snake moved was crap, and although the stealth was cool, moving to kill someone was too hard. Maybe I needed to fix something in options, but I borrowed it from a friend so it was ok.

Also, Final Fantasy XII or something, the one with Sin and that guy with the sword in the ocean shores on the box cover. I went pretty far, but the story confused me, so it wasnt totally boring but I hated the fighting (Dark Cloud 2 fighting style is better) and the storyline cinfused me. Maybe its because I was new to FF, so I'm not going to be so harsh on it like I was to MGS3.

I thought you were comparing these two as to which was better. I would of got irritated because their two compeltely different games, lol but anyways, I have Burnout 3 and its real fun, but seeing as you bet GOW already, why would you buy it again? IF your buying #2, then rent it when you know you have nothing else to do, beat it, and buy Burnout Revenge, if you have friends, its a hell of alot more fun than GoW2

The best competitive/co op game EVER has to be Power Stone 2 for my Dreamcast, I love that game to death
