Seriously I grew up with Mario and you would expect to grow weary of the famed Italian. It's proablly he never opens his trap so we can't catch him for racist commentis or biggotry. He'd proablly not even a real plumber -- wait, what were we discussing?

you may be right, we haven't seen any games where Mario's 'plumbing' skills are put to good use, either he's not a real plumber or it was a waste of an apprenticeship.

What I'm thinking is that he's a cop in a real but dangerous and highly unknown town. And that's it. A game where you play a bad-a** cop who kills the criminals. Once the job is done for the day, you have to deal with your personal life including a wife and two kids. T rated game for violence, alchol references, andlanguage.

Mockery aside, I think the closest we were going to see to 'realistic characters' in 'realistic environments' was Project Hammer (developed in house by Ninty), which has sadly been canned/delayed indefinately in favour of the dev team being broken up to work on games that appeal to a much wider audience, ie the dreaded casual gamers, zomg!

Project Hammer def seemed to have its roots in appealing to the Halo lovers of todays gaming world.
