I wouldn't get one. The nykos are cheaply made. The plastic is brittle and the fans have a habit of breaking loose and causeing a ton of noise and vibration.

[QUOTE="gatsbythepig"]It is totally expected. When they decided to use DVDs instead of blu-ray their lifespan had already been cut short.TheKungFool

It's JUST a storage medium. The bluray, in and of itself, doesn't make games better or worse.

Not better or worse, but certainly more effective. Would "Blue Dragon" or "Lost Odyssey" need to be on 3-4 discs if they were blueray? No. Don't get me wrong, its an amazing game and I think GS's score for Lost Odyssey should have been alot higher, but when my buddy opened his game and it was discs all stacked together, with another one in some stupid sleve, sorry, but I had to chuckle a bit.

I don't mind the disc stack so much. PC games have come like that for years so I'm used to it. But the fourth in the sleeve was a bit poor. And yeah, if it was on a bluray it would have been on one disc. But whether it's on four discs or just one, it's still the exact same game.

I can appreciate your point, but the obvious benefit remains. It may be the same exact beit on 4 discs or 1 single bluray disc, but you can certainly understand the benefits to the space afforded with the bluray medium. Especially when it comes to production, packaging, and looking forward a few years to what hopefully ends up being some bigger/better games.

Lets be honest, it might be the same game, but if you had your choice between it being on one disc or four, you'd more than likely opt for the single disc, barring some kind of disc switching fetish.

i lol'ed.

Yeah, with all things being equal I'd prefer the game one one disc.

Why exactly is that? That's like saying my 200gb hdd is obsolete because 300gbs are now on the market. It's JUST a storage medium. The bluray, in and of itself, doesn't make games better or worse. And dvds will be around for a while even after this consoles life cycle has ended, even the ps3s. Only about 30ish% even have HDTVs right now. I wouldn't worry about dvds falling off the radar just yet.

"Economists and inside sources slate the release as early as 2009."

Seriously?! That's ****ing rediculous... I JUST got into liking my 360 more than any other console and now I'm faced with the grim truth that I'll have to buy ANOTHER, more expesive system and start all over again? Give me at least five years of great releases. This is getting rediculous.

(DISCLAIMER: The above is true about all console, not specific to the Xbox. Just used this board because I like the 360 the most)

Super_Hippie

Meh. That's just analyst speculation. And besides, 09 is next year. Only a year away and we've heard nothing? If they were a year away from release they'd be hyping it already. For how many years did we know about the wii, ps3 and 360 development?

well, LO is a lot more like those FF games than it is to BD. So if you like the FF games you should like LO too.

PS- and yeah, it's VERY good.

I doubt MS will want to market all and every 360 game in two different formats. But a stand alone movie player, probably. But not built in for games.

i think its a pass for me its beengetting mixed reviews so farNSR34GTR

But what I find strange is that the reviewers that give it lower scores are docking it because it's too much like an old FF game. Those games were great and everybody loved them so I'm not sure how that became a bad thing all of a sudden.

I agree that both games are underrated. It seems to me that a lot of the reviewers have decided that turn-based RPGs are a thing of the past and are giving scores accordingly. How many shooters, racing and sports games have gotten great scores despite not doing anything new? Halo 3 and COD 4 are great games but haven't reinvented the wheel.

Two things that hurt Blue Dragon were the art style and the demo: The demo on XBox Live had you with an overpowered party, all abilities unlocked and turned off a lot of people. The art style was a love or hate proposition. For myself, I played it on the hard setting and built a great party and thoroughly enjoyed it and more than once i found myself thinking that it was a shame that so few people enjoyed it as I did.

Lost Odyssey seems to be doing better sales wise and I hope that the websites will re-review the game based on the fact that there are no loading or frame rate issues in the retail version.

Lastly, I think they should find reviewers that actually like RPGs or the reviewers themselves should state their dislike so we can take it into consideration.

Agreed. That's like having someone who hates TBS (turn based strategy) game review one and then say he hates it because it's not an RTS.
