LucasArts would be silly not to develop a game for the wii, if they actually made a good game for a change it would be amazing. Lightsabre battles FTW!

[QUOTE="pundog"]You can set up dedicated servers for some 360 games (like R6:V) but I really haven't noticed a host advantage in any games, at least not on the level that it makes a game completely unfair. F-Minus

Hm.. as I don't have a 360, I'm interested of how a dedicated server works there. Are you unable to play the game on the console when you set up a dedicated server? Or do you create a server and then connect to it so you're actually running the server and the client on the same console? I'm not into bashing :) So if anyone can explain it to me.

Also interested in how dedicated servers work on XBL. Did not know you could set them up on standard games.

Please tell someone else who cares... I bet you're one of those people on gears who cries "host" every single round. Like other people in this thread I beat the host on a regular basis. Host advantage is in EVERY online game, but it's not as big of an advantage as you think... it's probably that you're just not that good. And another thing, host gets a crapload of blood on his screen in gears, something that isn't done in other online fps's. So stop crying.

Host advantage is in every online game except those run on dedicated servers. Thankfully most PC games allow dedicated servers to be setup which allows more players and more importantly no host advantage of any kind as there is no host. That is what sucks about XBL.

Another thing is, developers could be put off making games on a Nintendo console because they can't compete with the sales/quality of Nintendo first party games; developers could be more inclined to make games for the xbox 360... Spamwell
Developers will develop for whatever has the largest install base. If wii were to have sold 20 million and the 360 10 million who do you think they would develop for?

[QUOTE="Spamwell"]The Wii may overtake the 360 in sales, but I don't think that the Wii's attach rate for games will even be close to that of the 360. This is where the money is at. A large portion of Wii owners are casual gamers; these people are happy with just Wii Sports for the moment, and aren't likely to buy many games in the future.psycotictaratua

Nintendo will probably make more money off this and last gen than Microsoft, because:
1. It's not far behind in game attachment rate.
2. Nintendo makes money on each console sold.
3. Nintendo dosen't have massive debts to pay off, unlike Microsoft.
4. Nintendo literally can't make DS Lites fast enough for consumers, many places are still reporting being sold out of them

Microsoft has yet to post a profit from their entertainment division, they lost $250 million last quarter. They lost $4 billion on the XBox alone. As Nintendo makes a profit on all their consoles this isnt so hard to imagine.

[QUOTE="Danm_999"][QUOTE="air0123"]PC's big online games cost money, WoW, Ever quest.cobrax25
Those are MMORPGs, the exception to the rule as they require much more intensive facilities. And when you play them on 360, you still need to pay for XBL AND the MMORPG fees. So the point is irrelevant, XBL still costs twice as much.

Ive always wondered how expensive it is to maintain an MMO server, I imagine its a insane amount.

After the initial hardware costs it is very little. When you have downtime maintencance in WoW all they are probably doing is backing up the logs. MMO servers arent anything fancy they are probably just a blade system from dell or sun.

Blizzard are getting a bit big headed for their own good. 7 million sold in console terms is nothing special. Just because they sell 7 million, not to mention how many of those people have alt accounts, theres nothing really that big about them. They can stuff their pcs, i'll stick to my consoles thank you. DarkT33
7 million active subscribers paying $15 a month!!!! In fact I think its 8 million now. Thats 120,000,000 a month!!!!! A very large chunk of that is pure profit after the server costs. I would hate to think how much money they have made. I am sure any developer would be happy to dig up his grandma's bones and play a merry tune on her ribs for that kind of revenue.

[QUOTE="ihatebugers"]Hermits enjoy Halo 2 about as much as everyone else enjoys video game versions of the Olympics.AvIdGaMeR444

So you're saying basically that hermits believe themselves to be above a FPS console port...In other words, hermits are too good to play a popular console FPS?

Why would you want to play Halo 2 when there are superior FPS's to play?

I cant speak for all the PC gamers here but I personally could not give a crap about Halo 2 on the PC. It wasnt very good on the XBox so I dont have any great hopes it will be good on the PC. Same goes for Jade Empire.

[QUOTE="DA_B0MB"][QUOTE="Copy_Snake"]SC2 most definately. I've been waiting forever. I'm actually just now getting back into SC.Copy_Snake
I CAN'T FIND MY SC!!! I'm so angry. I've been looking forever since I reformatted my PC. I have the expansion pack and the CD key but the original is gones... noooes!!

I remember we made like 5 copies of each CD, but now I can only find my original SC (horribly scratched) and a copy of BW (also horribly scratched).

I picked up SC and BW for £5 brand new, losing a copy isnt a great loss.
