Look, we all know that Piracy is a blight to the gamers society.
The problem is that SOME companies make it a appear that is the end of the world, even posting untruthful numbers (which is what this research tells us).
Look at CD Projekt Red & Witcher 2. The game had an unbelievable 80% piracy rate.
did they bitch about it? No, only a bit, and they lowered the Steam/GOG price of Witcher 2 & all of their comments are for OTHER developers how to make game more compelling for the consumers (ex add better game manuals, relationships of trust etc)
Thats why we root for CD Projekt Red. cause they actually support their customers & because their way of thinking is forward NOT backward.
Piracy will be difficult to be stopped, but with the
right attitude, better services, better quality, better prices ( i mean really Witcher 1 at 75% price for only 2 euros??a bargain),
piracy can be minimized, and the customers will support the game companies even more by buying their games.
Pure economic loss is actually very difficult to calculate in precise terms because it's largely hypothetical - there's no way of knowing exactly how many more units of a particular product would have sold if piracy did not exist, or how much money various people would have paid over time to buy discounted or second-hand copies in the absence of piracy for example.
people buy his CDs for a reason and i respect that. which you dont
in fact most of music industry (pop, r&b) dont offer anything good other than a catchy beat/rhythm.
also he is not giving only his review. he is representing the entire website.
look, you dont like the sales comparison? try the fan vs review comparison, or the comparison with the other sites for the same game.
good or bad is a matter of opinion, i agree with what you said
but good vs complete garbage is in totally different areas.
4/10 means not even mediocre
"Games that just don't work right and maybe didn't spend enough time in production tend to fall in to this category. They simply lack the cohesion and quality that make other games fun." gamespot
In the end thats what happened to Riptide review:
they assigned it to someone that doesnt like these games, hence the result.
cause dead island riptide is the same as dead island, with few improvements
@SolanOcard plus the review about the freelance writer, who the editor was forced to change.
and the resulting score remaining the same at metacritic (original score 9, new score 6), cause of metacritic rules. there was quite a ruckus on some sites, when it was found out how devs were denied of royalties cause of metacritic bad reviews.
really well & thought out response.
i applause you good sir. keep up posting articles like this
@sasami_adachi @Geogyf @lingo56 :D is katie kuric a gamer though? the way she asked the question was like she wanted to cause some ruckus cause the bandwagon is now: violent games are bad cause they suffer for humanity's violence
