We go to school until 16 (Final Year is Year 11, equivilant to 10th Grade) and sit our GCSE exams. Then where we can choose, either leave or carry on with what is known as Further Education (Involves either a separate college, or a schools Sixth Form). We do that for two years (sometimes known as Years 12 and 13) and receive further qualifications. Then we can choose again, either go to university or take a year off or anything else you want.
The key is that at the end of Year 11 (Grade 10) at age 16, once you have completed your GCSE's, you are a 'free' human being
i was in the algarve last year, and most of the people were friendly and stuff was very cheap. Lisbon is probably more expensive but yeah its a great place.
