First, how are you sure you have malware on your computer? Popups or various obnoxios things like that?

Second, I would download Spybot, adaware, AVG antispyware and counterspy. Update them all and then restart in safe mode and run them.

Internet Explorer is fine if it is fully updated. Try to run windows updates and make sure.

Once you have done that go to http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html and run that scan. If it comes up clean I think you are okay. Also, If you have Norton on your computer I would recommend removing it with norton removal tool, as I am familiar with the program causing more problems then it solves.

As for "Microsoft" games for windows like Halo 2 and Gears of War, you will need a Xboxlive silver account, which is free, and supposedly all "Games for Windows" games are compatible with a gamepad. I havn't tried it myself but it should be easy.

Also, I would forget about playing a "copied" game over the internet. They require CD keys that do a good job of preventing that, and you shouldn't be playing copied game at all.
