I guess Nintendo has chosen the path of casuals. Nothing at E3 stood out for it seems Nintendo is content on making games for old people and kiddie mini-games. Oh, well.....at least we had good times with Nintendo back in the day. This is a good time for the two better consoles to take full advantage and put out software aimed towards real gamers.

Looking at future titles, it is clear that the Wii cannot compete with the 360 and PS3 in the long run. How many times can Nintendo milk their franchises? How can Nintendo keep low on the power front and expect the remote to make up for these defects? How can Nintendo expect to compete with Xbox Live when MP3 features no online at all? Speaking of the ports, most gamers owned a PS2 so many of those PS2 games being ported to the Wii look old and tired as they have already been played. Sure, we can speak of sales but a year from now, I believe those sales will dwindle. In a sense, graphics do matter for they greatly enhance the atmosphere of a game. I see Nintendo relying on the "gameplay only" way too much when gamers - especially those who have stuck with Nintendo - could have the best of both worlds. If the Wiimote is innovation, then I'm a fat man with a white beard who will arrive through your chimney on Christmas. I'm starting to think that the Wii makes the Gamecube look like the console of a lifetime. What Nintendo fans are getting is the same old thing over and over again: Rehashed franchises and lackluster online gaming.

That and a titanic load of Mario titles.

I believe anyone who feels as if the Wii will continue to be as successful a year from now is mistaken. Just like the GC, it has lackluster third-party support. When the Wiimote fad wears off, the population will see it for what it truly is: A gimmick. Nintendo wasn't kidding when they said they were not in direct competition with the other two consoles. Inferior hardware, online and games shows this. It simply does not have the lasting power of the other two consoles. How much of a lifespan do cooking and mini-games have anyway?

Go RED SOX!

Epon, why would be impossible for the Wii to sell with Red Steel instead of Wii Sports?

Eponique

Now that Glitchspot had failed to show the longest post I've ever written, I'll give you the short version.

Red Steel = Crap, shows what NOT to do with the Wiimote. And crappy multiplayer.
Wii Sports = Fantastic, this game cannot be enjoyed without the Wiimote, great multiplayer. (Also good for exersise, brings those fat casuals in).

That's an opinion and how would people know that before they bought the Wii? We are talking about what sold the Wii. Not which game YOU think is better. Nice try but retort = failure.

Nice job, IronMaidenLives, you know you just got proven wrong but you're reduced to "I won't reply to this because of bad punctuation", "I won't reply to this because of your spelling mistake" etc etc.

How the hell do you expect us to agree with you?

Hexagon_777

He has no point that is why. This is just a fanboy rant. He is trying to be like Avidgamer but he fails.

My point is: THE WII SOLD BECAUSE OF A GIMMICK CONTROLLER.

I think I made that point a while ago.

I don't even know Avidgamer so how could I try to be like him?

And exactly what system am I a fanboy of? Certainly not the PS3 or 360. I don't own those and nor will I anytime soon.

Is assuming a full-time job for you?

and we all know that was pretty dang obvious to begin with, before you made this thread. This thread is not only pointless, but also pathetic because it has degenerated into a flamefest.

That's not his fault. He was trying to stay on topic the entire time before a bunch of fanboys came in and gave him a hard time. And it was me that was attacking the spelling. You guys need to get your facts straight.

Which I found funny, because you made a spelling mistake yourself in that same post in which you were correcting somebody. XD

Anyways, what else should we give him? He was stating the obvious. Stating obvious things is foolish.

And jumping on the bandwagon of the fanboy mob scene is even more foolish.

How was I being a fanboy? I was penalising him for stating the obvious after agreeing with him that the Wiimote is indeed the main selling point of the Wii, but not the only one. I am being realistic.

However, I remember you saying "kiddy", thus implying that you are a fanboy.

This is what I'm talking about. People like you who think X=Y. Just because I call something kiddy does not mean I'm a fanboy. But why try? Talking to you is like clapping with one hand.

This is nothing more than a bunch of people who can't come to the understanding that the Wii is a total gimmick product. They want IML to debate rationally but give him no reason to do so with their wild accusations and misquotes up the ying-yang. Instead of simply agreeing (Which I do) or disagreeing, it's all about looking through the mirror to avoid self-contradictions.

Pathetic.
